I'm new to all this, so apologies for any stupid questions.
I've just installed my TomTom maps to the iPaq via ActiveSync, which took absolutely ages. Am I correct in thinking that I can buy an SD card reader and back up the card contents significantly quicker? Surely I don't have to back-up the SD card through ActiveSync; that would take hours!

I had that thought quite some time ago and I started to back up my card, 50 minutes later it was about a quarter of the way through. I gave it up as a bad job. As you quite rightly surmised, it would take hours.
If you use a card reader instead of ActiveSynch it will certainly be a lot quicker to back up the contents of your Ipaq.

Don't forget to go to My Computer - Tools - Folder Options - View and tick Show hidden files and folders.
Put a new folder in your My Documents and name it e.g. Ipaq backup.
Open the SD Card and Select all, right click and Copy.
Open the Ipaq backup folder, right click and Paste.
Some people even do another backup on a new SD Card, the prices have really come down, and keep it in the car. Should anything go wrong, when you are out and about, you can just swap cards. _________________ Formerly known as Lost_Property

Thanks for your replies :D.
Lost_Property, when you say to show hidden files, do you mean that it will show hidden files on the SD card that will otherwise be missed?
Thanks

I believe there are two hidden. Could be one, my brains getting tired at this late hour.
A number of people have made the mistake of not Showing Hidden files and folders and missing them when backing up and as a result they find their device fails when having to use the back up. _________________ Formerly known as Lost_Property

You're lucky I got it right really, because sometimes at this unearthly hour, I've been known to answer a question to the wrong post. :P _________________ Formerly known as Lost_Property
