What's the difference between NT and non-NT? |
Not sure. There's an NT+, too, as used on the StreetPilot 2820. More confusion.... _________________ Tim |

There seems to be confusion about CityNavigator Europe v9
There is talk about ordering and receiving disks from Garmin, but are they the 'full' DVD or the 'update' DVD????
At the moment only the CityNavigator Europe v9 NT version seems to be available. [Suitable for the newer units]
Within the name CityNavigator Europe v9 NT there are:-
1-
A complete DVD with the whole of Europe to be unlocked to two units you own! [Very expensive in the UK][In USA this is available for $300!]
2-
A complete DVD with the whole of Europe but only certain areas can be unlocked to match your v8 on the unit.
3-
The update DVD which merely updates your v8 to v9. This will be free from Garmin but to unlock it will cost $70 for two units!
Depending when you bought the previous version [after Sept 2006] it could be a free unlock!
4-
The SD card versions for different regions.
As yet the non NT version is not mentioned!
There are similar versions for this!
This version will work with more units [in my case both the 60CSX and the iQue 3600] So I will have to wait for this to utilize the two unlock codes. |

The DVD maybe free but is of no use until i pay for the Unlock Code having owned mine since Xmas 2005. |
You are utterly wrong as well as I downloaded the DVD from the net way before receiving the actual DVD and installed it on the unit using the unlock code that Garmin emailed me as soon as I requested the update. The DVD I received today was shipped from the US (no shipping fees obviously) and I am keeping it only as a backup. Lots of companies are subjected to competition from others but not all of them treat their customers with the courtesy that Garmin has shown to all sorts of people who write in this forum. I say it once more that if people are not happy with the service they get then they should vote with their wallet and not only moan and spoil the experience for others. |

It was FREE & as a bonus it also has the whole of europe unlocked so im more then happy with Garmins customer service :D _________________ Garmin I3

Quoted from an email I received from Garmin on 12 December:
"PLEASE BE AWARE: the non-NT update (part# 010-10432-04), for units such as the SPIII, GPS V, etc, is now delayed to later in December and because of the Christmas and New Year holidays."
It would appear it's been delayed even further, maybe because they're still inundated with requests for V9 NT? Hope you don't have to wait too much longer, Tim! _________________ Anita

Greetings from Kent,
Received the v9 NT update DVD ordered for my 2720 in Jan, today.
However have now noticed that the original disc with the unit said "v8 NT+" ;
this update is just "v9 NT".
Interested to know what the difference is (?)

I'm not sure there is a difference - you are right the previous version said "NT+" whereas the current version just says "NT". Either way, it's the right mapping for the majority of the newer Garmin SatNav units. _________________ Please don't be offended if I do not reply to a PM - please ask questions via the forums. |

The two NT versions are merged into one for v9 onwards.
The only alternative is the Non-NT which works on a greater variety of Garmin units. |

Thanks for your answer, guys.
NOW:
Have been spending the last frustrating hours tearing my hair out trying to load the ## thing to my 2720.
Put the DVD in. Clicked on the correct option of the menu (ie NOT the one about the PC only).
Switched on and connected as per on screen.
All went well, loaded onto PC, put in the unlock code.... then program exited as if all done. But nothing was loaded to the GPS!
(wife shouting that she was waiting to go to Sainsburys!)
Went thru the whole thing again.
Now got the option of "Repair" or "Remove" Tried both but no loading to GPS - only on PC!
(smoke rising from groundfloor - wife theatening to leave)
Then on fourth attempt - Bingo! - an onscreen about loading to GPS. I still don't know why or how I got to that point - anyway said it would take 1hr 58mts
(Victory! went shopping with wife).
Couldn't wait to get back - went straight to the PC.
**** I mean sugar! another clump of hair lost, blood pressure higher than the space shuttle, back in the dumps!
"Update has failed would you like to try again?"
Yes! Yes!
1hr 58mts later - failed again!
Tried once more.
Same result!
Decided to reboot the PC incase there was a problem.
BIG MISTAKE - now cannot get back to the loading to GPS part!
Many choice words come to mind!
Checked the GPS - in the "About/Maps" it actually says "City Navigator v9 ALL". The maps appear to load and look ok on the screen. So why the failure message?.
So now do I leave it? - If it all works tomorrow.
On the other hand HOW does one load/reload the maps to the GPS.
Any suggestions would be welcome
Whew - that was really theraputic!

Once you've got the base region loaded to the GPS (which now appears to work), additional maps are loaded via MapSource, and so should not suffer the exact same problems. _________________ Please don't be offended if I do not reply to a PM - please ask questions via the forums. |
