I have reported the update problem to Garmin - they are going to talk to the engineers in the USA at 2pm our time - they said to try later this afternoon. |

The page in mrfox reply is back on-line - but I don't have my GARMIN USB cable with me - so I can't see if the update file exists/works until this evening. _________________ Phil |

There is no facility to upload the GTM12 update from this site page. It Says Webupdater must be used to install this update!
Webupdater however will not recognise that my 310 with GTM12 V3.9 Software needs an update and according to Garmin this morning it should.
When I spoke to Garmin they asked me to email them a copy of a file on my Nuvi (Which I have done), so they could interrogate the file to find out why the units are not recognising the update.
I am awaiting a reply,
I am also not holding my breath! |

Does your Nuvi have the 32kb Bin file in the Garmin directory? If so move it off and reboot the Nuvi then run webupdater again and hopefully the option to update GTM will be there (on page with extra car graphics).
However the update doesn't work yet. (Just downloads). |

Yes I do have the 32K Bin File in the Garmin Directory.
Garmin However wanted the GarminDevice.xml File to interrogate from the Garmin Folder.
It seems the problem lies deeper.
Thanks for the Tip I will try That! |

Ok, so I binned the 32k bin file, connected to webupdater, went through all the steps, got to the last page and the GTM Upgrade was not there!
Oh well, back to not holding my breath and waiting for a reply from Garmin.
Thanks anyway! |

Did you reboot the Nuvi after deleting the bin file before running webupdater? |

It's not that simple. I put v3.70 GTM back onto my Nuvi. This triggered WebUpdater into seeing the "v4.00" update, which it downloaded, and applied to the Nuvi.
However, the Nuvi made no attempt to upgrade the traffic receiver.
I think they have either:
1. Updated the firmware changes files, without realising the new file.
2. Realised the new file, but left the internal version at v3.90, therefore nothing happens when you try to upgrade the traffic receivers / WebUpdater. _________________ Please don't be offended if I do not reply to a PM - please ask questions via the forums. |

A comparison of the two files shows them to be very similar, in fact, a cursory glance throughout the files showed no differences at all, including both having the v3.90 version stamp within the file.
I'm guessing on my first suggestion now, new release notes, but no new firmware file yet. _________________ Please don't be offended if I do not reply to a PM - please ask questions via the forums. |

Anyway lets hope they realise the release didn't work..........
As I write this and talk to a rather embarrassed guy at Garmin UK who is fully aware of the problem and is waiting for the US Tech guys to get out of bed and let him know whats going on.......... Oops!
