A few years ago I put a POI database together for High Quality Pubs which was based on information from www.diningpubs.co.uk/. I contacted the owner of the pub and he was happy form me to publish his data in a POI file. The database covers nationwide, although is ver scarce in Scotland and Ireland. The pubs are categorised in 2 categories:
Dining Pubs
Premier Pubs
I input all of the "Premier" pubs and a few of the Dining pubs that were reviewed well. I am happ for this to be expanded to include all of the Dining Pubs as well if someone is happy to add these in.
Alot of these pubs were in a number of other good quality Pub Websites. Every one that I have been has been excellent.
If you want to do this I am happy to pass on the POI files. They were on this site a while ago under High Quality Pubs.
Let me know?

There are tonnes of pubs that I haven't put into this due to them not being "Premier Pub" Status if you add all of these then you would propably triple or quadruple the number of pubs on this POI.
There are 535 pubs in this list which are all or certainly were good quality pubs when I made this list. Each POI has the Pubs name, the Village that it is in and its Telephone Number.
If you go on to www.diningpubs.co.uk you can select a specific county by selecting a county from the drop down list at the to right hand corner of the front page. The list of Kent pubs that it has are at: http://www.diningpubs.co.uk/county.asp?cid=46
I will put this POI up on a piece of webspace for people to download if anyone is interested. Someone will need to take the baton to add in all of the other pubs in this list though.

Thanks Beefy, I'm sure this will be a benefit to many.
I'm not sure yet how to make POI's but will have a look - and learn. _________________ TomTom Go 60

I have some good news, I have just found that the POI file I created is still on this site, although in a different place than I first was looking. You can find this at the following URL: http://www.pocketgpspoi.com/reviews/tomtompoi/High_Quality_Pubs.zip
To add POI's there are a number of ways to add them. POIEdit is one the products that are free that can help you, although you will need to establish the co-ordinates for each POI. You can do this using something like Multimap, entering the Postcode for the POI.
There may wel be easier ways to enter these though.
Cheers,

Thanks Beefy,
For Garmin users I have added THIS online POI converter, as the above POI file is for TomTom users.
This link will convert the OV2 File to .CSV - still retain the .BMP file. _________________ TomTom Go 60

PS.
The .CSV file is also for Navman users.
It will convert as Zip file, save direct to POI file rather than open.
Sorry more haste less speed in future. _________________ TomTom Go 60

What format is it, I would suggest that you convert it to ov2 format and then load intp poiedit and ensure it works and is also as you intended, it also saves oldie a lot of work and will subsequently get loaded into database quicker, if ok then submitt to pois @ pocketgpsworld.com in original .txt format if this is what original is, there is a posting on submittal on the forum if you search. |

The Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) has just released a POI file for the TomTom covering all 2008 Good Beer Guide pubs. Costs £5 and covers POIs only - no additional text. Link: http://www.camra.org.uk/page.aspx?o=280241 |
