Does anyone know whether the long running saga of non-compatability between PocketGPS POIs and POIEdit has been solved with the release of POIEdit 2007? |

No, unfortunately not. And Pocket GPS refuses to do anything about it. At least they can remove the speedcam entries from the PoiEdit sync service. I dont know for sure, but the non-speedcam entries should be working ok. They leave little choice but removing them from the PoiEdit site and app. Too bad, after all the free publicity I've made for them... |

Yeah this is a real shame since POIEdit is (was!) easily the best way of updating the POIs. C'MON POCKETGPSWORLD, PLEASE SORT IT OUT!!! |

I am with you. I saw the Poiedit 2007 had been released. It was such a good and easy tool to use.
I see at the bottom of this posting it says "Jump to Poi-sync" Do it and to get a message says "Sorry this module isn't active".
Seriously if it isn't active don't put the b----y prompt there |

Sorry folks, this is a no-go. Our POIs are dynamically generated from the database. This process is just not compatible with POIedit. _________________ Lutz

So can't you write a program to generate the necessary files for POIedit which is run once a day ? _________________ Gareth |

I see what you mean.
But all I want is some method of updating the POI's that I download.
I have a TomTom and have exactly 100 POI's, every time I try to update them I end downloading a POI or 2 which I hadn't downloaded before which takes it over 100 POI's.
So all I want is to save my selection of POI's which I can then update every week or so, this would still work under the terms of their copyright. _________________ Gareth |

That's more of something we can think about. If you are happy to accept cookies then we could store your selection of POI categories and compilation options, and re-set those when you return to the page. _________________ Lutz

I think there are a lot of people out there who would appreciate some method of automatically updating their POIs. I don't care how easy you say it is to manually download the zip file, unzip it and copy to the GPS device IT IS A PAIN! If POIEdit isn't ever going to work again then how about you guys come up with something similar that does work (cookies or whatever - don't care how). |
