Hi all, iv read various threads and posts about reception problems and how people cant get a signal. I am in that bracket i'm afraid, but something iv seen is people say its scanning but cant get a lock . I don't get anything like that , all i get at the station sections is "no data found".
Am i doing something wrong ? _________________ www.dustysworld.net |

I was about to start showing you various other threads on this but I've noticed your name on a few of them already.
This thread may well help if you havent already read it.
Where do you generaly reside? As there are a good few reported dead zones for TMC.
Which in turn may mean!
It's time to concider an external ariel. _________________ Dom

I live in Hampshire, a place called Fawley. I went to bournemouth the other day via the M27 and i got nothing.
The thing i want to know is, i get no data found . I see nothing about scanning on my F20. Should i see anything resembling an icon showing me its scanning for a signal . _________________ www.dustysworld.net |

The T1 is always scanning! Looking for the best station, which in the uk is only Classic fm for navmans. It will not display any status of scanning.
After reading the online manual I can see it is a little confusing. The note of importance is (if no preferred station is set it will always lock on to the strongest signal). You can only set a preferred station if you can get a signal for it in the first place. Navmans recomendations to me where to not set any preferred stations and let it select its own, And it could take up to half an hour to get my first signal. 8O
If you've read the ariel discussion threads you may have already stumbled onto the debates about how useless the T1 is out of the box and how navman shouldn't be selling it if it takes so long to get a signal. It is not impossable and it can be quick.
I have been down your neck of the woods and got a signal. Where exactly I can't remember so you'll have to trust me.
First set up your gps somewhere outside, in your car or wherever, preferably in your car so you can drive with it.
Then extend the supplied ariel up the windscreen pillar and accross the top of the windscreen as far as it will go, using all the cable. (just hang it on the sunvisors to start with). Using all the cable outstreached is the key if you are setting up in the garden.
Then leaving it on for some time should provide some responce.
The TMC icon on the main map screen should change colour to green when it's working. If in the car a short journey may help.
If all this fails, then as before, an external ariel may help. I still don't use one, and I believe it shouldn't be nessesary just to see if the unit works, so consider calling navman to report a faulty unit.
Give it a go. and good luck. _________________ Dom

OK. Missed this in my thread. I didn't get a manual in my T1 pack. If you didn't either, Here's the online pdf file. _________________ Dom

Before trying the ariel route you may wan't to ensure the unit works!
As I don't use an external ariel I don't know if that adapter cable will work. Looking at it though it may need modifying, but I'm not sure. _________________ Dom
