|
|
Hi everyone,
I hope someone can help.
My Rider freezes on the splash screen and won't boot up. I've tried the hard reset which doesn't cure it and I've also swapped sd cards and it's still the same, so I think it's the rider itself and not the card that has a fault.
I can still mount it on my pc by connecting the usb cable then resetting and I've tried installing my back up but it doesn't help.
I was installing some poi's when it happened, and i've now removed them but it still freezes. Like I said earlier, swapping to another sd card doesn't help.
What can I try next?
Thanks |

How about the 30 second reset then 10secs holding the power button down? |

Thanks binman but i've just tried that and it didn't work
I've also just discovered that the back up/restore isn't actually working. It goes through the motions and says it's successful but when I have a look at the tomtom, files are still there that I expected the restore to wipe off.
I'm thinking about formating the sd card and trying the restore again but that's a bit risky.... |

I've also just noticed that the tomtom application file is only 5MB and it was previously 7.6MB so maybe some part of the app has been wiped. I'm going to try to reinstall the app..... |

I did the reformat but at FAT 16 and copied across all the data from a back up file but admittedly I didn't think of hidden files.
I'll try that later and let you know |

Formatted at FAT 32 transfered all files including the hidden but still it won't boot past the splash screen.
I have used a 3rd sd card now and that still doesn't work.
The back up I restored from is an old one from way before this freezing, it's a few months old!
Does the unit itself carry any of the operating system or files or is everything on the sd card?
At the moment it seems as though it can't be the cards but the unit!
By the way I am formating whilst still in the device as I don't have a card reader. I read somewhere that you're supposed to use a card reader, can anyone clarify that for me?
Thanks |

I don't know if the Rider is exactly the same as the GO, but you seem to be missing a System File.
It's the ttsystem File. Instead of using your backup to restore the program, try using the CD that came with the Rider, or download the latest version from TT. _________________ Richard

Hi
The system file is there just above "great_britain contents". I've reinstalled the application again this morning but still no go.
I think it's proper broke! |

The cd that comes with Rider only has the manual and a back up and restore tool on it. I'm going to remove all the "non" tomtom stuff, just in case but it was working fine for a long time this happened. |
