|

Hi there,
On start-up I always get a small dialogue box stating 'Cannot execute \Windows\ttgpseng.exe'
There is an article on this website dated some time ago saying that it is some process to call up contacts (which I don't want to use anyway).
A Look in the Windows directory shows that this file does not exist there ... possibly explaining why it cannot be executed!
Neither can I find any file called 'ttgpseng.???' on the SD card the software came on.
Any ideas please ... or can anyone let me have a copy of the exe file?

If its any help I cant find it either in my ttn6 windows installation folder, and mine is working ok, perhaps its a remnant from the previous install and a clean install might help making sure all old files removed, tomtom changed the configeration of contacts in ttn6 by accessing them from within tomtom when in previous editions tomtom was accessed via the contacts database. hope this might help. |

Thanks aj2052.... I think I can see what you mean, but I am not sure that I have the nerve to try and remove anything.
At the moment TTv6 seems to work quite, and I don't really want to screw anything up .... I have done that too often in the past!
I have looked for some preference setting which elates to 'contacts' but have not been successful.
Have others just swapped the SD card over, (moving from ttv3 to TTv6) and not had the same trouble? _________________ TomTom Start 25 M UK & ROI

I dont think their is any changes in preferences for Contacts, it is simply in Navigate to ...contacts, simply you use it or you dont, perhaps yopu should be looking for whats making the call, or perhaps buy a new sd card possibly a 2gb for for future additions(they are reasonably cheap at the moment) and copy over and experiment, that way you at least secure the original SD Card, I personally also have other applications, mp3s,photos and occasionally put films on my pda(mio168).
if i remember i have had to do a hard reset in the past to clear my pda but cannot remember if due to upgrade or not or just me delving too far. |

I have looked even deeper into this problem, and have come up with a thread on this site which talks of a programme called check_notifications.exe .
I down-loaded this into the PDA and run it.
It said I had over 1700 notifications!
Not one of these seemed to be for the ttgpseng.exe file.
I chose to delete all of them ... (in a rush of blood to the head).
I was left with a number of file names, including a listing for ttgpsng.exe
I deleted it ... (more blood flowing!)
Since then it all seems to be going OK.
Tom Tom seems happy ... I haven't seen that pesky dialogue box again ... but perhaps it is early days.
Hopefully the problem is solved.
I hope this doesn't come back and bite me. _________________ TomTom Start 25 M UK & ROI

Before deleting anything I assume you did a complete backup It's also worth renaming a file before deleting it. If all is well you can delete it then. _________________ TT Go Essential |

Yes indeed.
I use Sprite for backing up ... so easy and reliable. _________________ TomTom Start 25 M UK & ROI
