I'm talking about the factory installed maps that includes a wide area of the world. I have found many maps for the rest of the world but the only problem is that they are not routable. Does anyone know if you can upgrade the basemap or at least if you can make routable a non standar one? |

Thanks a lot! I tried the basemap for ique and it works fine! It has more details from the standard basemap and most of the cities are searchable!
I had to replace the original file from the unit's internal database but I backed it up first in a folder in my computer. There are some minor problems-confusions when it has to create a route from an area that is covered by the V9 maps to the basemap areas only, but i suppose this is excusable |

One thing to watch out for - there have been "problems" with TMC (traffic) reception with this different map installed. I think Garmin may have fixed some of the problems, but if you find you lose traffic support, it may be caused by this map (although there are plenty of other reasons you might lose traffic as well, but if you change the basemap and immediately lose traffic, it might be worth going back to the original basemap).
Another reason to ensure you have a full backup before making any changes to your Nuvi (which I note tsdinos did do). _________________ Please don't be offended if I do not reply to a PM - please ask questions via the forums. |
