|
|
Just bought a TT 910 today. Done a couple of journeys with it and it is working very well.
Just doing a backup at the moment.
Just wondering, what folder on my computer does it store the backup files? I was thinking it might be a good idea to make to copy of the backup, just as a precaution. I always like to have several copies of all my computer backups, you never know when a hard drive will fail!!!!
Thanks |

From the TomTom Home application select File/ Preferences when the window opens click the Advanced tab and you will see the folder directory paths displayed. As the back-up is your only copy of the data on the device it is a very good idea to make a copy of the data, use a couple of blank DVD's as the Loquendo folder is 4GB on its own! - Mike |

If you are keen to have several backups, may I suggest you do one WITHOUT using TomTom "Home"?
Home has a nasty habit of leaving out large chunks of the data (whether by accident or design ).
Do a manual backup by simply opening up the Go's harddrive in Windows Explorer and (having first checked in the preferences that all hidden files are being shown), 'select all', 'copy', and 'paste' to somewhere safe on your PC.
As before, expect it to take an age to complete...
(but at least then you can compare folders and assure yourself that everything has copied OK). |

Very good point Andy, the 910 back up via home tends to mess up the files used by the Text To Speech system, specificaly the Loquendo folder and its contents, I found this out to my peril a while back and had to re-name loads of files/ folders to get the TTS working again, the Windows Explorer copy works fine though - Mike |

Also, remember to have the power connected to the dock whilst doing it. The 910 has over 7GB on its HD, so it'll take a bit of time (but worth it of course). _________________ Dennis
