I'm currently running navigator 5 on pda but have been offered a Go510 for good money (yes it is legit), problem is I use my France+ map every year, can I pop my current sd card with maps into the Go510 and the maps work, or are they a completly different set of maps? |

It's a yes as long as you can find your software code for the french map and the ttcode.com lets you activate it. You will also need to install the GO application files on the SD card with the maps. |

I have the activation code for my existing France+ map, where in the Go will I find the Go application files?
Has anyone done this before? If so how? |

Get a new SD card (anything from 512MB upwards)
Copy the files from card which came with your GO510 to the new card, apart from Maps
Copy the french map to the new card
Activate |

That activation code will not work.
You need to take both the PRODUCT code of the map (supplied with the map on a credit card sized form or in an email if downloaded) and the DEVICE code of your Go. Go to www.ttcode.com, enter both codes and it will generate a NEW activation code (if it considers what you are doing is allowed!)
As for application files, the easiest way (as you need a new card anyway if you don't want to trash your ) is to buy a new SD card big enough for both maps and copy EVERYTHING from the 510 card onto it. Once you are happy it is working, then add the France map.
It must be pointed out that in order to install the French map on your GO, you MUST delete it from your Navigator set-up, otherwise you are breaking the licence you have agreed to with TomTom. |

Tried to transfer to a bigger card following instructions im Mikes thread, everyting went over no probs, BUT its still asking me for an activation code, when entering the code obtained from ttcode.com I get told it is incorrect.
Any ideas |

I fail to see how this is not working, if you have followed the advice:
1/ Make sure Show hidden files is selected in Windows Explorer.
2/ Make sure Hide extensions for known file types is NOT selected.
3/ Copy the original card that was supplied with the 510 to the PC, put the entire lot into a single folder on the desktop so you know where it is.
4/ Remove the original card and insert the new larger card.
5/ Right click the card and select Format (this is to wipe the new card - not usually required)
6/ Open the desktop folder containing your card copy and select all files/ folders, right click and select "Copy"
7/ Go to the drive letter that applys to your new larger card, right click and select "Paste"
8/ Once file transfer is complete insert the card to the 510 and switch it on, it should not require activation.
Can you tell us what happens if you put the original card into the 510? - does it still ask for activation or does it work? - Mike |
