Danx and Oldboy... It looks like another TomTom numbering cock-up?
I can assure you I DIDN'T buy the full Europe maps.
I have my Go300 sitting on my lap, and on the info page (the one you get when you tap the signal strength bars) it says "Map: 'UK and IE plus major roads of WE' v660.1219"
This is with App 6.520, OS: 1387, Boot: 4.86.
Can anyone explain? |

it depends on which site you order. from tomtom.com if you select US from the right, you can buy only US maps. you probably selected from UK website and bought only UK & IE maps. I paid like 150 euro for this |

True, but it still looks like they are calling totally different maps by the same version number
By the way, I don't think it's a good idea to post pictures that show your device codes.
I'd ask a mod to edit or delete it if I were you. |

It looks like the pic has gone already, but I was wondering why it wasn't a good idea to show it. Product codes I can understand, but device codes? _________________ Tim |

he confused the product code with my hardware id code (a.k.a. device code) something similar to an IMEI code |

Has anyone else noticed that the Navteq maps class (and therefore colour) roads very differently to the Teleatlas ones?
With Teleatlas maps (GB/Eire), all roads are coloured exactly as you'd expect to see in an AA road atlas (if you set the colour scheme to something UK-centric like Britannica) -- motorways blue/white, primary A-roads green/yellow, non-primary A-roads red, B-roads yellow, all lesser roads white.
But with Navteq maps (Western Europe), it's a mess. While motorways are correctly shown in blue/white, ALL A-roads are shown as green/yellow primary routes, but even more strangely, B-roads are red outside built-up-areas but then yellow inside them! Also, many unclassified connecting roads are shown as B-roads!
Does anyone have any idea why Navteq classified the roads so strangely? |

Presumably Navteq maps react the same as Teleatlas ones when you use a custom colour scheme?
So if you have one of those you like, (I use GB New), will both maps look alike? |

I'm really baffled by all this. I have just bought a ONE Europe (V2), and upgraded it to App 6.560 (7914/061211) OS:1713.
But it says Map: 'Western Europe' v652.1185 and the TomTom site says I am up to date.
Is there a more recent version of my Europe map, can I get it, should I get it and if so how do I get it? |

There are SMALL differences betrween 6.5 and 6.6 maps.
TomTom don't consider the differences significant (as you have already found)
They will not give you a free upgrade.
You can buy the latest version on the TomTom website but you will be disappointed if you are expecting big changes.
If you don't like it, email TomTom to complain and you will get nowhere.
Sorry to reduce this to the bullet points, but this gets asked SO many times. Scan a few of the topics in this section, or there's a "Search" button at the top that would give you all the info. |
