|
|
If I purchase a USA / Canada map DVD from the UK Tomtom site, it's 120 euros, which equals £79.
If I purchase a USA / Canada map DVD from the USA Tomtom site, it's $50. which equals £25.
Therefore, if I get a friend in Canada to purchase a DVD and send it to me here, I have saved £50.
The question is (apart from the unfairness of the price differential) would a USA purchased DVD work in my UK purchased GO700? |

It's a fact of life that things cost different prices in different countries.
There can be several reasons for this local taxes, economies of scale, demand and supply, culture, etc.
Until there is a complete and unified worldwide economy there will never be price parity, and even then it'd still be very unlikely. For example despite a single currency within the Euro zone items still differ in price.
Of course, there's nothing preventing you from taking advantage of favourable prices elsewhere, however if the goods were purchased outside an EU country you'd still be liable for tax when the they reach these shores.
It could be worse you could be living in one of the Scandanvian countries where beer is much more expensive than in the UK. |
