if I purchase the newest map of GB from the TomTom site does it come with an activation code at all.
I have no idea where any of the CDs or boxes are for the 500 I have and my maps are well out of date.
Thanks _________________ RAT RODZ UK |

That's only the same as how you got a map product code card when you first bought your 300, but didn't need to use it. |

You would not receive an activation code, but you should have received a Product code. |

Yes your right, I 've just checked the 'conformation of purchase' email from TT and there is indeed a product code.
I downloaded my USA map via tomtom home to a different SD card (having first deleted my Europe map folder), I'm pretty sure that its going to work OK when I arrive in the US as I have been busily adding in POI's etc
What is the point of the (presumeably unique) product code?, activation code I can understand.
Is there a sure fire way of making absolutely sure that my map install is OK, I dont really want to be trying to contact TT support whilst on my hols.

The activation code is never sent to you, you have to generate it by combining the product code of the map and the device code of the hardware at a website www.ttcode.com. If your TomTom doesn't ask for it, you don't need it.
Info on what to do when it does is HERE

Presume you've been browsing the map already?
You could also switch to the US map then run a Demo Route (Main menu / A-B Advanced planning).
I'd have thought those if those two work then it should be OK? |

Many thanks Andy_P2002,
Yes a demo route from the airport to our accommodation ran ok, so it looks as if it will be just fine, also added in the retail POI's from TT's website whilst I had that card in, they also work OK, despite not being able to open the file using POIedit .

I bought the Western Europe map (downlodable) a couple of days ago and I got the code. I put the code on ttcode.com and got my activation code. Worked just great. The latest map version v660.1219 WE |
