I've been trying to locate where I can buy a 7 disc copy of the Tomtom Navigator USA edition. Most places that I have tried have the 5 disc edition and with the upgrade deadline approaching I don't want to order one of these only for the software to arrive after the deadline.
Does anyone know where this can be sourced reliably? I'd be grateful for any help.
Regards
Paradise. |

It doesn't really matter. As the owner of the 5 disc edition you are eligible for the upgrade free of charge, directly from TomTom USA. That may even be the easiest way since all the resellers still have their stock of 5 disc pack lying around and are unlikely to replace them with the 7 pack. _________________ Lutz

I thought the upgrade offer only runs until the 28th Feb? |

There are a ton of rumours that they will come out with TomTom III at CeBit. I am just not sure if they will change the map data model. Business sense would say yes, but then why the effort to bring out a new US map set in the first place?
If you can wait, wait until after CeBit. If you can't, buy now. _________________ Lutz

I suspect that the new map set was an interim measure to avoid the negative publicity of leaving a product that seemed to have broken routing in the marketplace. It could have been very damaging to TomTom, after all the effort of releasing a USA version, to leave its first effort broken in the eyes of some and not fix it - it could have blacked their name for a very long time in the US marketplace.
It wasn't the first map that TomTom have reissued - one of the Scandinavian maps for Navigator 2 was wrong in the early pressings (I think it was the single country map for Sweden - it had you driving on the wrong side of the road!), though that was corrected fairly quickly.
As Lutz says, there seems pretty clear evidence that TomTom Navigator 3 will be announced very soon - though how long before it will be before it is available to purchase is anyone's guess.
