Something like "Other Cable NMEA", 4800 or 9600, SP2: _________________ Lutz

Just completed this process on my 570
Baud rate is 9600, and works OK on mine
You may need to reset to get it to function OK
Cheers |

If that is the Mio 168 clone then the settings are as follows
Other Cable NMEA
Baud 4800
Serial cable on sp2
Then you need to wait for several mins (2-10) to get a lock, the bars should be grey on the screen, then should turn blue when locked.
You need a good view of the sky, next to window or outside. Although I live in a bungalow and it works fine in any room! |

Here you go then, from another post, but someone also said you need to turn the GPS on first before starting TomTom from one of the menus within the Pin570.
Quote: | I finally figured how to get TomTom 5 on Navman PiN 570, so here goes
Firstly turn on your GPS by going into "Start:Settings:GPS on SystemTab:ON"
The amber light should be flashing in the top left of your PIN 570
Next start tomtom
On "Main menu 1 of 3" tap "Change preferences"
On "Preferences 4 of 6" tap "Show GPS Status"
Tap "Configure"
Choose "Other Cable NME GPS"
Set "GPS baud rate to either 9600(worked for me) or 4800"
Now the tricky bit, this is where i got lost before
You are now faced with
GPS is connected to
SC2410 USB Cable:
COM3:
S2410 IRDA2410
S2410 UART0
GPS ON NAVIGATOR
Choose "GPS ON NAVIGATOR"
Done
Make sure your NAVMAN aeriel can see the sky and you'll be picking up satellites in no time.
Hope this helps took me a while to figure out but it definately works!! |
I cannot comment as I have not seen that working for myself. |

Is there anyway to get the Pin to start the GPS automatically when you go into TOmTom?
SmartST seems to do this...
Otherwise, its just a pain to start GPS before TomTom (Not for me but explaining this to the Mrs !!!) |

I've had to ditch my TT5 as it kept freezing and blacking out the screen causing a full re-set to get things back to normal on my PIN570 .I hated having to load all my programs back on again . Anyway , I got a version of TT6 with the latest UK & WE map . Absolutely fab , No freezes , no black screens . Still have the capability of running SmartST should I need it , but TT is MILES better |
