and in particular, read Silver2wind's dated 30th August - this will enable full wince use AFTER a hard reset. _________________ tomtom one v2 - 7.162

I'm just now reading about this Navman modification, and I find it useful in the context that Navman is lacking in software support and new maps. I've read this thread and glanced at the once Geoff links to. So now I have a few basic questions before I read all there is out there:
1) Will my ICN 530 take the Tom-Tom operating system/software as mentioned in this thread?
2) If I do this mod, does that mean I can update my software and my maps with Tom Tom updates and maps? In essence, does the mod completely turn my Navman into a Tom Tom? If not, what are the issues involved with that (other than the ones mentioned in this thread)?
3) Would I need to buy Tom Tom software and/or maps, or is that availible on the internet? And are there Tom Tom "keys" and registration issues to contend with?
4) Do a need a memory card to do this? (I don't have one, at least yet)
5) What else do you suggest I consider before trying this mod?
1) Yes
2) Yes
3) Yes - please don't steal off the suppliers, If you think they charge too much then you have a choice not use them.
4) Not sure, but recommended. They are quite cheap now so best to get one.
5) If you are not a computer savy person, it may be best to save time and effort and not attempt it, however there are lots of people have done this successfully and happily, and bucket loads of advise on the here and elsewhere on the internet if you want to go ahead.
I would say its the sort of thing you do for fun, to see if you can, because it's there. If you want an easy to use, reliable Nav System, you may be better living with the one you have, or selling it and buying a TT, Garmin or whatever.
My 2 cents worth anyway - good luck and have fun if you go ahead.
