Assuming the Nuvi works like the Streetpilot C510, you can have multiple ".GPI" files in the \Garmin\Poi directory.
So, you could upload your Supermarkets etc using POILoader and then rename POI.GPI to MyPoints.GPI.
If you then re-run POILoader with the speedcamera database, you'll get another POI.GPI, which you can leave as-is or rename to Speedcamera.GPI if you feel that way inclined.
The order it finds these files, affects the order they show up in the list. So if you want your 'Supermarkets' first, load them and boot up the Nuvi. Then shutdown, reconnect to PC and transfer on Speedcameras etc.
At any rate, that works for the Speedpilot... |

Or you can simply put all the files in the same directory, and let POI Loader just upload them all to the unit...
The latest POI Loader supports categories on many Garmin units, and MaFt has produced a version of his POIs that already the POIs split into categories.
By putting everything into categories, it's a lot easier to see what going on anyway, without the need to order the files explicitly. |

I keep seeing references to 'categories', (in Mapsource, NRoute etc). It doesn't seem to be a concept that the Speedpilot C510 implements, unless someone can enlighten me. I've tried defining some POI's as .GPX files and adding the relevent "gpxx:Category" statements - I don't get any errors, but equally they don't seem to do anything either.
Maybe it's just something that the POI loader doesn't propagate through to the .GPI file. There are others features that the units are capable of that aren't implemented (yet?) ... for example. the Cyclops/Garmin speed cameras don't show up as Custom POIs (you can't select them as somewhere to navigate to!) - yet they obviously are, in every other sense. |

The latest POI Loader (Beta version) supports categories by you simply placing the POI files on your PC within sub directories, and it then creates those subdirectories as categories on the SatNav unit. |
