garmin i3 street pilot

hi there

i have just got a new garmin i3 street pilot

but when i choose where to, address then select a country Scotland doesnt appear only england and a few others but not many , even if i choose england then put a post code it says no matches found i updated the software tom 3.20 i also get a message saying map is more than a year old , do i have to download anything from garmin before i can get scotland?

i would appreciate any help

do i have to register or unlock my i3 garmin before i can get full uk coverage?

Should work out of the box. No registration or other tricks required.

Seems to me that the answer would be, especially if this is a recently purchased unit, to upgrade for free to V9 when, judging from experience on this forum, you will get coverage for the whole of Europe, never mind Scotland. See the posts on the V9 maps topic, especially the later posts.
Just in case, when you register on the Garmin site and are asked to insert date of purchase, if it is after 1 Sept 06 the updates will be free!!

hi guys

many thanks for the replys

i phoned garmin and the guy told me to reset my i3 then leave it switched on outside so i did this for about 6 hours but yet nothing when i view the map of my location it does show where i am but when i go to find address scotland wales and ireland still dont show so i tried england again with a post code but it said no matches found ive noticed the countries shown are france netherlands italy spain and even these dont find any city that i search for im at a loss now?

anymore help would be greatfully appreciated

hi nick

my dad got it as a gift from his car insurance for being with them for so long

the guy at garmin said hhe would be entitled to a free map update but i dont know how to find it

i presume you ARE using the scroll wheel to move down the list of countries?

if so then i suggest contacting garmin again, either that or take it back to the shop you got it from and tell them it's faulty.
