|
|
TomTom, the world’s largest portable navigation provider, today launches the free QuickGPSfix service to all TomTom ONE users.
TomTom’s free QuickGPSfix service enables a TomTom ONE device to connect with GPS satellites faster than ever before. This means that the position of the TomTom ONE is ‘fixed’ seconds after switching on the device, even if the GPS signal is weak.

Surely it's for the slower chipset that the x10 series have anyway.
I thought the One had the all singing, all dancing chipset anyway? |

Quote from TT site:-
TomTom’s QuickGPSfix predicts the location of GPS satellites for seven days. For the quickest GPS fix available, users are required to connect to TomTom HOME at least once a week.
I reckon the One chipset is fast enough to get a fix anyway. |

Havn't done much driving since new year, so by now my TomTom ONE had lost all knowledge of near-by sats.
Just upgraded to 5.65, also downloaded the GPS QuickFix, turned on the TomTom ONE, got a fix indoors in 4 seconds!
Good :D
Very similar to the GO 910 now.

Did you notice that this update also flashed the firmware on the unit as well, all the previous updates just updated the software. |

yes my unti did the same, this was to enable the SIRFIII Chipset to use the Quick GPSFix I should imagine.
Works like a charm now, 4 second fix, can't be bad :D |

i upgrading to 6.56 will make you loose voice alerts as there isn't a data.chk file for 6.56 yet.... _________________ *************************** |

I don't think PGPSW are going to bother producing new data.chk versions now, unless someone specifically requests one. |

how do i get this service.
i connected to tomtom home but could see no reference to 'quick gps fix' download.
my ONE v2 europe is running version 6.501.
please advise what i have to do as i'm switching my unit on and off at least 8 times a day in the course of my work and instant fixes would be good (although they're not that bad now!!) |
