Well if it doesnt the transflash cards are very cheap
Standard size that came with my I3 from the factory was 256 mb. _________________ Garmin I3

Ditto, although I've already had a browse through and have found a local road which has been closed for two years but not showed on the old version, does show as closed on V9. Which is handy, as this is the road that my i3 ALWAYS wants me to take to go ANYWHERE! |

OK, we have a problem. I disconnected my USB cable, switched my i3 off, then decided to look up something else and now my satnav won't display properly - vertical lines all over an otherwise blank screen.
When I reconnect the USB cable, it then switches on properly, but appears to have somehow reverted to V8 maps, and when I go into the settings, the MapSource states V8.
Now what?! |

Yup! New ones. But I reinstalled everything (you get the option "Repair Files" when you reinstall), and it's fine again - except it still shows the vertical lines on blank screen unless I plug in the USB cable. The maps are definitely V9 again.
Very strange! BTW, I only uploaded the UK and Ireland maps as I don't need the European ones at the moment, and it took almost 10 minutes! I hate to think how long the entire mapset would take! |

Quick question for those that have put their V9 mapping onto a new card, when their i3 has voices / mapping and POI on the existing card. Did you copy the file structure onto the new card before loading the mapping data onto it? Was it nessecary to copy the voices onto the new card also?
Not that its urgent as the DVD has still not turned up! Ah well no rush |

Well tested this morning to work. I usually drop the better half off at work (she's pregnant) so had it in map mode for a while.
It locked up a couple of times, which it never has (ever) before. But saying that I can't say ive really tested map mode before (so it may have happened anyway).
Dropped her off and did a hard reset (just in case). Started navigated and it seemed fine. Seemed to pause and didnt update while I went over one roundabout - but seemed to recover and was ok after that.
Ill keep on testing it (dont use it that often) and let you know. There's a couple of roads in london that it used to get wrong (shooters hill for example, it was called something else on the unit). |

I loaded the mapping to the blank card and then copied all the other files across from my pc. _________________ Anita

Ok have a reply from Garmin not gonna bother with update!
I now have a couple of choices which you could do, it sounds as though the maps would have been erased through a software update in which case I have had a word with repairs and your unit can be repaired under warranty (repairs free from charge) so I have processed your unit through for repair, if you could send your unit to "unit 5" and the below address. Along with the unit if you could provide a brief cover letter outling the problem with the unit, in addition include your returns number at the top.
Repair under warranty? Novemer 05!
Will be careful what I update next time! although they must think it's their fault? |

Well, Jill, I did say: "Phone Garmin and explain what happened. They're usually very helpful and would probably re-instate v8 maps on your unit."
It's typical of the experience of most Garmin users on this forum! :D _________________ Anita

Sorry, Jill, I don't understand. I thought your son tried to update via the DVD.

What do you wish Garmin would sort out? I had the impression your problem was caused by him trying to update to V9 maps without an unlock code. _________________ Anita
