Hi,
Have you turned bluetooth on on your V3? To do this go into the Bluetooth menu select 'setup' and change 'Power' to on.
Stay in the Bluetooth menu and select 'Find Me' this then gives the TT 60 seconds to pair with your phone, so have the TT ready to go.
If you get asked for a pin try '0000' |

ttone asks for phone type so I selected v3 then the progress meter got to 65% then gives the 'unable to set up your wireless data connection' |

Sounds like your phone is not set up for GPRS.
Go here;
http://www.vodafonehelp.co.uk/GettingStarted.php?ModelID=5&e=0#
select the 'Configuration Settings' button and follow the instructions. When done they should send the configuration to your phone. Once this is done try setting up the TT again. |

I should add that you might have to set up the TT manually.
When you see a screen that says;
"Unable to set up your wireless data connection. Do you want to try another phone model or do you want to set your wireless data connection manually?"
Select 'Manually'
When asked for access point name APN enter;
pp.vodafone.co.uk
Username is web
Password web
The IP address should be set to automatic.
DNS1 and DNS2 should be set to automatic.
For the dial string use *99#
Edit the Login script so it reads;
at+cgdcont=1,"ip","pp.vodafone.co.uk","",0,0 |

Thank you shinymera for your input
I have gone to the website you suggested and went through the instructions. Sure enough I got a message and followed the instructions again . trouble is my v3 has 12 icons on the menu and not 9 as shown on the website and then all the thingys dont add up . in settings there is no connect option all I have is:
personalise
ring styles
diverts
in-call setup
initial setup
phone status
headset
car settings
network
security
java settings
I suspect that I should have some indication that GPRS is enabled but I cant find it so I must assume it's not |

Hi,
right so you went to the website pressed the 'Configuration Settings' button and follow the instructions.
You then received a message that read 'update required' so you pressed install. You then entered the PIN that the website gave you and pressed OK.
If the above is true then you should be good to go.
I'm on the vodaphone PAYG, but I have a standard V3 and not one supplied by Vodafone so my menus are different. On your screen if you look where your signal strength is, just to the right of that you should see the GPRS icon it looks something like boxes on top of each other.
When you then try to set up the wireless connection on the tomtom when it gets to about 65% and fails with the message;
"Unable to set up your wireless data connection. Do you want to try another phone model or do you want to set your wireless data connection manually?"
Select 'Manually'
When asked for access point name APN enter;
pp.vodafone.co.uk
Username is web
Password web
The IP address should be set to automatic.
DNS1 and DNS2 should be set to automatic.
For the dial string use *99#

Is this a new phone?
Mine played up to start with. Had to call Vodafone. They had me take the battery out of the phone while it was turned on, remove the sim, then put the battery back in and turn the phone on without the sim in it. They also did something at their end.
But the long and short of it is, If you're not getting Vodafone Live then you'll need to call Vodafone. Once that is working, follow my instructions for setting up the TT. |
