|
|
I've deleted my mates I3 memory card and I dont know how to install the maps.
Right.
I burrowed my mates i3 the other day (He's a delivery driver and uses it all the time !!) and I dont know how but I've managed to delete the maps off of the memory card. (Actually it was my son as the card fits into his phone and I think he's erased it)
Anyway.
Can anybody upload the i3 memory card data somewhere so I can download on copy the files back to the card.
It's a U.K i3 and he had NT Ver 8 on it.
Any help would really be appreciated.
Thanxx

This is part of an email I had from Garmin about micro sd cards:
". . . one thing I wouldn't recommend is putting any cards with maps on to a non Garmin device as all the maps will be erased. "
Ask your friend if he had backed up the i3 card to his pc. If so you can just copy the whole Garmin folder back to the card.
If not, your only chance is to contact Garmin. Their Customer Support is excellent. It will probably mean sending the whole unit to them. _________________ Anita

I thought my reply was useful!
Maybe some advice for the future would be of more use. When you borrow something from a friend treat it with respect, and certainly don't allow your son to mess with things he obviously doesn't understand - or, come to that, with anything that doesn't belong to him even if he thinks he knows what he's doing. What the hell was he doing taking the card out of a device that didn't belong to him and putting it in a completely different device that it wasn't intended for!

seriously mate, if you hav'nt backed up the original card then you have lost the mapping...you cannot load another persons maps or backup onto your card , it wont work...options are, contact garmin or purchase a new map card.. _________________ *************************** |

That reply was aimed somewhere else m8.
Thanxx for the reply's guys.
I did treat my m8's stuff with respect but I've got a 14 year old who thinks he knows more than is good for him.
Aw well.
On the flip side then I'm sure Garmin dont produce individual memory cards for each unit sold.
I'll buy another i3 and just copy the card then. Not the route (Sat Nav... Get It) I wanted to go down.

it wont work that way...the card can be backed up and then copied back to the original card but it cannot be copied for another i3.. _________________ *************************** |

Hi, if the unit was purchased recently (after 1/09/2006) then the unit is entitled to a free mapping update. All you'll need is a code to unlock the new maps from Garmin and that could be obtained through their websites. you can check other posts in here about how to get the new maps from Garmin (and as mentioned if the unit is purchased not a long time ago then it is free).
For the maps Garmin would normally send a free DVD (for the whole of Europe) but as mentioned these would be locked and need a code that Garmin will email to you after requesting it from their website. If you are in a hurry then you can download the DVD from one of the file sharing sites but you would obviously still need the unlock code from Garmin..
Hope this helps. |

I've found the NT V9 DVD on a file shareing site so that's not a problem (incoming as we speak) so all I need is an Unlock code.
Any suggestions ????
I doubt it is a new unit as when I turned it on to use it it said that the maps needed updating.
So all I need is that code :D :D :D

You will have to talk to Garmin directly to obtain any form of code, although I would expect them to take a very dim view of anyone using a downloaded map! - The telephone call will more than lightly be a short duration one, inform them fully of what has happened and they might help out - Mike |
