|
|
I've read everything I can and as a newbie on TT on a steep learning curve. I have preplanned several routes, checked they are the way I want to go and saved them as favourite. But when I select them as a destination TT recalculates the route all over again which means all the work I have done in working them out is wasted. What am I doing wrong here ? Is there a simple way of planning a route, saving it and it not doing thta.
Apologies for the "I'm with stupid" type questions...... _________________ TomTom 720

Hi topgazza
If you have worked out a route that you want to travel and to save then you save it as an Itinerary and not as a favourite. _________________ Tomtom Go 720.

I read that in the instructions but I saved it as an itinerary and now I can't find it. Also when I load other routes in my intinery it recalculates them again. I am using a colleagues TT6, he's got my 5.21 PDA, but I guess the overall principal should be the same.
I must confess the lack of PC planning is proving harder to get used to than I thought it would. I have two items in my itinerary but can't see how to "save" them as a complete route. Navigate to just goes to the first one. Everything seems to be destination rather than route based. I have just planned route using the "Via" option to make sure it goes the right way. But the frustration is that I want t just save that route.....and reuse it again. But even if I select nav to previous destination it does a recalculate....... _________________ TomTom 720

Interesting...doing the iteinerary with the manual open...first time for everything. 2+2 can sometimes equal 4. Plan route in Itinery, save as iteinery. When you want to go that route from the same departure point..home...go back into Intinerary to reload and Bobs your rather strange Uncle.
See, this is different from Co Pilot where routes, itinerarys were saved complete in Favourites. In TT favourites are always recalculated from scratch with all the "mis-routing" to be taken out.
Culture shock......but I'll keep plodding away. Very much appreciate your patience again. _________________ TomTom 720

Of course. I tend to use my "Favs" (Co Pilot) now interary (TT)for routes from home so thats great. If I'm out and about I guess I will just sue Fav to get home for instance....unless I had the opportunity to plan again from where I was.
As I've said the leap from Co Pilot, which has some very strong features in this area is a tad more difficult than I thought it would be. But each time I play with TT and...post here...I'm becoming more confident that its a great product. Doubly so with all the support and bits and pieces on this site.
Now where do I find a McDonalds POI list........... _________________ TomTom 720
