My family member with the new 660 with v9 maps for the whole of Europe applied for the DVD to Garmin at Romsey!!!
Quote: | Here is the reply:-
Thank you for contacting Garmin Europe.
The MapSource application is used for several purposes, the main one
being to transfer mapping from your PC onto a Garmin unit. The reason
why the Nüvi did not come supplied with this software is because the
mapping is all preloaded so there is no need to transfer any other
mapping. You can also use MapSource to create and save waypoints to
certain units as well as routes (you cannot save routes onto a Nüvi).
You can purchase MapSource Trip and Waypoint manager which will allow
you to plot waypoints on a basic map, but you cannot get the detailed
mapping from the unit and use it in MapSource. It is not possible to
purchase/download the mapping that is on your nüvi and then use it on
your PC as this version of mapping only comes supplied with certain
units.
If you wanted to purchase this software (Trip and Waypoint Manager) then
the Garmin part number is: 010-10215-04 RRP £22.52.
Thank you for contacting customer support at Garmin Europe. If you have
any more questions, please don't hesitate to contact us again. |
He wanted to be able to view CityNavigator Europe v9 on the PC. |

Your Disk should arrive within 7 - 10 business days via First Class Mail as soon as it is available and ships.
Not had the 10 business days pass by yet
Ill see if it turns up middle of next week, if not ill be giving Garmin a little nudge. _________________ Garmin I3

I ordered mine on 13 Dec, which I make 17 working days!
But, from an email from Garmin on 8 Jan:
"Version 9 has been incredibly popular so there is a backlog in requests but we have received more last friday and they will be shipped as soon as possible."
As snowboardcriminal says, the wait goes on! _________________ Anita

This V9 update is it just the U.K. maps you get on the dvd or is it all of Europe?
If its the latter what size memory card would you need to install in your I3 to fit everything on?
Thanks

I am understand you can unlock the whole of Europe and the DVD comes in at somthing like 1.2Gb, so a 1 Gb card would seem the best, then most of Europe will fit on. _________________ Don't eat yellow snow

I ordered mine online on the 13th and have been waiting 'patiently' for the disk to arrive.
Has anyone who ordered a disk online had theirs delivered yet and if so when did they place an order I thought I was fairly quick off the mark but maybe not. |

Yes you can unlock the whole of Europe. You need to highlight the areas of Europe you want your Nuvi to use and then transfer via the Mapsource program and a USB cable. |

I phoned Garmin UK on Wednesday 10th, and was told there out of stock and awaiting more supplies.
But as for what you will be able to unlock when we get the V9 update disc,
while the DVD will contain all the regions of Europe, when you apply to Garmin with your product code, you will only be supplied with an unlock code that will unlock the same regions as the unit was supplied with, i.e.
UK & Ireland, OR the whole of Europe. OR what ever other combination of regions your unit was supplied with.
You will be able to purchase extra regions from the unlock site but I think the price is quite high, although I don't know as I have always bought units with the full European Unlock and never needed to purchase any additional regions. As of today I have owned 4 different Garmin GPS units, and this has always been the way. |

Received my V9 maps this morning. Followed the instructions and installed the new DVD maps to my PC and then followed the instructions to download the UK maps to my Nuvi. Provided the unlock code when requested and then unlocked the DVD update.
But now when I switch the Nuvi on I am getting a message saying the new maps on the unit need to be unlocked
Have I missed something? Thought I did everything correctly; the unit still goes live but I suspect with the old maps........ |

I'm getting a similar problem to perussell . I run MapSource and enter the unlock code. I says 'unlocked', and the wizard goes away. Looking at the displayed map its says 'Map Detail Locked' and there is no zone grid for me to select which zones I want to send to my nuvi 360.
Anyone got any ideas please?
Thank you. |

There seems to be confusion about CityNavigator Europe v9
There is talk about ordering and receiving disks from Garmin, but are they the 'full' DVD or the 'update' DVD????
At the moment only the CityNavigator Europe v9 NT version seems to be available.
Within that version there are:-
1-A complete DVD with the whole of Europe to be unlocked to two units you own!
2-A complete DVD with the whole of Europe but only certain areas can be unlocked to match your v8 on the unit.
3-The update DVD which merely updates your v8 to v9.
4-The SD card versions for different regions
As yet the non NT version is not mentioned! There are similar versions for this! |

In Utilities - Unlock Maps - Retrieve an reinstall all my Garmin unlock codes I have retrieved the Unlock Code from my myGarmin account.
In Utilities - Unlock Maps - View my installed Unlock Codes my 360 and Unlock Code is correctly displayed. |

I had the same problem, so phoned Garmin. Took about 10 minutes to get through. I thought the support guy would be familiar with the problem, but he didn't seem to be. Eventually he gave me a different unlock code from the one I'd got from the website, and when I entered this code the maps unlocked successfully.
I have one of the original i3s that came with v8 maps on a 256MB card, and decided to risk following Garmin's instructions and transfer the mapping to the unit (backed up of course!) rather than use a card reader.
It seems that you can select any area of the map for the i3, not just those already installed, and I selected only a bit more of Europe than was already installed because of the size of the card.
Everything went smoothly, if slowly (the actual download to the unit took 17 minutes), and I now have v9 mapping. I haven't taken it out yet, but simulation is working fine.
I don't yet know if there's any improvement for the UK, but the area of Connemara that I visit is now fully detailed. Can't wait to go back to Ireland and try it out! _________________ Anita
