Several people have notified me over the past week of problems with the POI-Sync service not containing all of the POI's, especially newer ones that we have added. After some extensive investigation, it looks like we've hit a theoretical limit on the size of the catalog file. I've been looking at ways to overcome this, and I think we're going to need to split the file into at least two for the time being. We seem to have more POI's for UK alone, so splitting this away to a seperate file should make things easier, and leaving the rest as a European file of POI's for the time being. I will endeavour to make this change later today, and will post any changes here to the website. What will this mean ? You may have to change a few settings in POIEdit to retrieve the new lists, but nothing major. More on this a little later. The change over will only take about 10 minutes to complete on the website itself, but will take several hours of back end work before hand. |

I have spent the last couple of hours examing all of 2000 lines of code, and have found two glaring errors which has resulted in not seeing most of the new POI's we have added recently.
Also, testing this on a PC that has never run POIEdit before, caused a USERNAME/PASSWORD box to appear on screen, which has now been resolved. This maybe what some of you have experienced if you have only started using the POI-Sync Service in the past couple of weeks since we moved to the new server.
Give it a go, and let me know whether or not you still see any problems. |

Seems to be working well.
Until today, I couldn't find the English Heritage POI file listed; now it's there.
Until the end of last week, I could synch OK, then on Friday and when I tried again over the weekend I got the dreaded proxy message, in spite of unchanged blank LAN settings in IE. Strangely, POI Edit appeared to check for its own update satisfactorily and it listed available POIs but would not AutoUpdate the POIs. Very strange.
All now working, thanks!

I downloaded POI Edit the other day and had a quick look, but never actualy did anything as I was running out of space on my SD card so had to get a new one. When the new one arrived today I thought I'd try POI edit again and it keeps asking me for a username and password...
anyone tell me what that is about?? |

This thread made me check my copy of PoiEdit to make sure it still worked - it failed to update so I had a play - by some wierd coincidence my CF card wasn't registering anymore (even though I'f been using Tomtom2 all day....).
Luckily a quick soft reset cured it but I have to say I was a tad worried !

It's because you have Internet Explorer configured incorrectly!!! Check the FAQ. |

I would have checked the FAQS, but the link on the page points to a page that doesn't exist.

Okay, just found the problem. The FAQ link at the top of the POI-Sync page works fine, the one in the Troubleshooting section did have a problem which has now been fixed, thanks. |
