hi
tomtom one v2 europe.
i've noticed on a couple of occasions that my speed readout changes to show that i am exceeding the speed limit for that road. quite handy acctually. but how do i control this info. it has only appeared 2 or 3 times that i've noticed in the bottom right corner of info panel and it goes red if speed exceeded.
can it show for all roads or only motorways etc? and how do i configure it to show more or less often??
many thanks |

You can only turn the speed reading on or off, the speed limit is displayed if speed is turned on AND there is speed limit data within the map data for the actual location you are at. In use I find the limit speed to be wrong quite often resulting in a red flashing display - Mike |

hi mike
is that speed reading the one accessed via the preference screen for staus bar preferences.
i have everything ticked in here, but i've only seen the speed limit warnings a few times??
would have thought in and around london would have had more data?? maybe not. |

By all accounts, this info is not available on ALL roads... just Motorways and most major A roads.....
Not been out and tested it yet myself, but looking forward to see it in action..... and yes, I'll check the road for plod first! _________________ Steve

It works in exactly the same way as the speed display used to.
In other words, all you can do is switch the display on or off in "status bar preferences".
With it 'on', it shows your speed all the time, and in addition it will show what it thinks is the road speed if that info is available for that road.
It is often wrong.
There is no customisation for colour/flash rate/correcting errors etc. You can change the font size, but ONLY automatically by removing other items from the status bar. |

Went to Carlisle a couple of weeks ago (travelling from the midlands) and on the M6 north of J38 to about J42 it shows the speed limit as 60!!! This is clearly wrong. If it's wrong on this stretch of road, what confidence can we have that others are correct? I'm assuming this data is built into the map. Has anyone been in touch with TomTom to see if there will be a map update? |

If they do, they'll be told the norm..... Map udates are done once a year!
And as we have just had one, theres no hope really!!! I even read somewhere that the new London Congestion Zone isn't mapped on the latest ones so I don't know what people will do when thats announced!!!
Fun here isn't it! _________________ Steve

I noticed mine doing it before christmas on the M66, as I had in running in metric, it took some time to work out what it was doing with the split. I find it useful, although as mentioned its mostly motorway and A roads it covers at the moment. I have found a few times that what it shows as the speed limit is incorrect, even one by pass has it a 70mph one way and 40mph coming the other way, the limit both ways is 50mph at that part, so pinch of salt.

I went up to Penrith on the M6 last week and noticed the 60mph come up which i thought was odd. |
