My PPC is a Loox 600 with WM 2003. I've just upgraded my Destinator navigation software to version 3. All - except an IMPORTANT detail - looks great and works fine on my Loox. However, the Socket BT GPS unit is not seen by the programme. The GPS works fine with Destinator2, GSpot and OziExplorer. I've even tried to hard reset the Loox and install the Destinato3 as the only application - without success. Anybody having the programme running ??
Cheers. |

That's indeed strange. Are you saying that you can see the Socket BT receiver with other programs (like WinFast) but not with Desti 3? _________________ Lutz

Yes, that's what I say. Destinator 2 is working fine - only drops GPS every 2 hours or so. |

have you used the "Find GPS" button? I have seen that one to come up with all kinds of screwy things. the manual way with "Set GPS" normally works better. I guess it's NMEA 38400 on COM8:
When you tap on Options...About, what version is reported? _________________ Lutz

Agree - I've found that the D3's Find GPS button doesn't find my Leadtek 9532 at all on my Ipaq 2210. The only way I can get D3 to see the GPS is to manually set the settings. I'd forgotten about that problem until you mentioned it.

The version is Destinator 3.0.25. When I connect the GPS to with Pocket Plugfree it responds "Connection established with BTGPS 152C9D on Serial Port using port COM5". Thus, I tried both to look for the GPS applying the "Find GPS" and I manualy configured the GPS as "COM5, 38400, NMEA". In both cases it responded " GPS isn't found..." |

leave it at MNEA 38400 but try other ports. It may be COM4: (although COM 5 really sounds like it should be).
If all of that fails please contact PowerLOC support. Maybe you have a combination that exposes a bug in Destinator. _________________ Lutz

|

Hello, I've got a similar problem with a different PDA:
I've just bought a Holux GR 230 Mouse to be used by BT with a FS loox 610BT/WLAN and Destinator v.3
A get a BT connection between mouse and PDA (without been asked for the key). The Pocket Plugfree software tells me the connection is realised on COM6.
By openeing COM6 with gpsview or cruxview everything wotks fine
BUT
Destinator drives me crazy by telling me: GPS not found.
I've tried the search and every possible combination of baud rate/protocoll/COM port by hand
Is there anybody with the solution of this problem? The Destinator support is not very helpful

Just use the settings you are using in the other apps and it should work. It works for me okay. I use COM8, NMEA 9600 and it connects first time.
Don't use the find feature as it's a bit buggy, just set it manually. Also make sure that if you also have TomTom Navigator installed to uninstall the TomTom ~ GPS driver and perform a soft reset as this will stop it from working. |

Having a little teething trouble D3 and a BT308. Both see each other but rarely keep the connection for longer than 5 minutes. Granted the blue light on the GPS rec'er does go out completely for some reason, but even when I turn it off and on, D3 rarely re-establishes the link.
Is there a way for D3 to remember the BT device? I seem to recall a way when connecting via a serial port to leave all the settings fixed, but when going via BT you have to refind the device every time. |

iPAQ 5450 running WM2003. Have not tested it much, I am going on a longer trip this week which should hopefully show up anything more. This afternoon it did re-connect by itself, which is a relief.
On an unconnected subject - has anyone found a Y charger cable to charge both the iPAQ and BT GPS? |

Not sure about the 5450, but there were inherent issues with the 2210's and Bluetooth under WM2003. When the processor gets heavily taxed it can drop the BT connection (BT being the first the the OS closes), it might be similar right across the board on WM2003. |

Whilst looking at a different problem regarding poor sound on 5450 I came across this patch for the 5xxx range:
http://h18000.www1.hp.com/support/files/handheldiPAQ/us/download/19764.html
entitled:
HP iPAQ Pocket PC h5500 Series Firmware Update
version 1.00.18 (19 Nov 03)
It contains a number of fixes but also a much later build of the BT s/w (I am build 07, the patch is build 58). A fix it contains is:
Corrects a problem where the device needed a Normal Reset after being turned off while transferring data via SPP, for example, while connected to a Bluetooth GPS device.
However I can't tell if this is for PPC2002 or WM2003.
