Can anyone help me. Just bought a nuvi 350 and really pleased with it, was a toss up between the tt one and the nuvi. The only thing I dont like about it is the voices, there almost scary and very electronic sounding compared to other navigation units. Is it possible to change these voices or add others which are more friendly sounding and if so where can I get them from. Any other tips or tricks that can be used on the nuvi that might be of interest to me ........... |

Abakus said that he "made a tool which should split and merge VPM file of any language with correct pointer tables"
"any language" is the key for me here.
BTW, does your tool work on Nuvi voices? |

Yes, as far as i Know my tool works for any languange and seems to have almost no limitations about chnaging the wav sound snippets.
If it works for Nuvi 330 - i am not sure. If you can get the ***__.vpm out of the Nuvi and store it back onto it via USB you are (most probably) all set - thats what my tool works on.
It splits the VPM down to the tables, provides the Wavs, and can reconstruct the VPM out of the original table snippet and the (possibly modified) Wavs.
I have followed the work from Ash10, but i have provided complete reconstruction of the Wav tables.
btw, Ash was right about the IMD 4 bit mono wav mode - but there is another wav type in the VPM allowed - its PCM 16 bit mono, and i have tested it and it works. (these files are 4 times longer than IMA).
The only thing is - program and descriptin are mostly in German at moment - i would only like to change it if there is significant interest..... |

Addition - my tool can as well read the *.RGN files - which can be extracted out of any (voiceupdate).exe by unzipping the exe (yes, that works, it gives an Updater.exe and the *.RGN). |
