|
|
Hi,
I updated the firmware on my Nuvi 310d last week to the latest version via WebUpdater, and since the upgrade I haven't been able to sucessfully make a call from my Sony Ericsson K800i via bluetooth hands free.
I spoke with Garmin, who suggested that I delete a file from the GARMIN/REMOTESW directory on the device, but that didn't help and a complete re-install of firmware/hard reset haven't worked either.
Now Garmin have suggested that I send the Nuvi back for them to look at, but I'd rather not have the bother as I use the device daily.
Has anybody else experienced this problem and is anybody aware of a fix? I can only presume that it's the firmware......
Thanks in advance,
Damian |

Hi
Not had any problem with updates, Why not roll back to a previous release as a temp. measure and see if the phone works? |

I assume, having installed the new firmware that you went back through the pairing process with the Nuvi again?
There are a few tricks you can try - did Garmin get you to reload the Bluetooth firmware via the diagnostic menu, for example? |

Hi Swing & Total,
Yes I have tried to re-pair the phone & Nuvi. They pair fine. It's when I come to make a call that there's a problem, if you dial from the NUVI, you hear the tone dial, then there's nothing. Also, it hasn't actually dialled on the phone. If you dial from the phone, then you get no sound from the phone, because it thinks the Nuvi is the headset.
Please could you tell me more on how to reload the Firmware via the diagnostic menu? Or even how to roll back to an earlier version?
Roll-back may not be that easy as Garmin asked me to go into the REMOTESW directory and delete the newest file.... That didn't work, and so I reinstalled the new firmware again, that didn't work. So I deleted the earlier file, and reinstalled the firmware and that didn't work! I've tried the hard reset by powering whilst touching the top r/h corner of the screen, that doesn't work either. (Also it doesn't delete my POI's...... Is this normal?)

It's normal that it does not delete the POIs.
I'll PM you the details of what to try, although it comes with a heavy disclaimer. |

Thanks for your help chaps!
Hard reset didn't work. Nor did re-installing the bluetooth firmware.
In the end, I upgraded the firmware on my Orange SE K800i, using some software called Wotan, and it sorted it!
The issue seemed to be that the latest revision of the Nuvi Firmware was incompatible with Orange's ANCIENT firmware that they impose on users of the K800i. I pity other Orange k800i users as they'll no doubt be struggling and scratching their heads too! Neither Orange nor Garmin could resolve the issue (Orange don't do firmware upgrades), so I did a bit of research and sorted things myself.
I hope that this helps other Nuvi / K800i users.
Thanks again.

Hi,
I'm running the very latest Wotan version of firmware. Wotan is very easy to do as long as you follow the instructions to the word.
Upgrading the firmware of the phone resolved any issues with connectivity to the Nuvi. It's well worth the bother. It improves the k800i all round in fact!
Hope this covers what you needed to know.
:o)

When I get a chance I'm going to attempt a firmware update via SEUS on the Sony Ericsson website. I may be reading it all wrong but don't wotan charge for this service? |

Hi m8
Would be interested to know if you load firmware R1JG001 to see if it solves the problem as that's what I have on my phone
Cheers

If you have an Orange K800i, Seus won't work for you. It just doesn't! The charge for an upgrade via Wotan is only a couple of quid and you can get the very latest firmware before it's even available via Seus.
Just one important thing to note. Back up your contacts & photo's from your phone before upgrading via Wotan. It wipes them completely! Plus you'll need to get your setup info for your web access, photo messaging etc. Because it will wipe those too! |
