Received update disk today and installed as per Garmin instructions.
Thought I could simply select a pre-defined UK map to send to the Nuvi but had to use map source to select and name an area myself - anyway up and running version 9 now |

i3, on the middle of the dash, works just fine!

The map is split up into approx. 20 regions for the UK, I selected these plus those for most of France too. Seems to work ok but is memory space dependent - I had previously deleted most of the foreign language help files anyway. |

Notwithstanding space limitations could you have selected any areas outside of UK, Ireland or France? |

With regard to space limitations, can the updated maps be put onto a different (bigger) MicroSD card? |

The UK mainland consists of 16 files, NI and Eire consist of 2 - total space is around 135mb. I have since included Northern France and the Benelux with the UK and Ireland maps into a single file and it works fine.
I have also kept version 8 maps on my Nuvi and by unticking the box between Version 8 and Version 9 I have simulated a number of routes. Version 9 seems to take a slightly longer route but in the ones I have tried it seems to have stuck more to the main roads than to the "rat runs" it sometimes tried to route me down.
Some of the POIs have been updated but I haven't found any major differences between V8 and V9. |

You have simulated a number of routes on your Nuvi. ON the C510 I can only simulate at more or les real time speeds. Can the Nuvi simulate at faster speeds? If so what options are there? |

@chrisles
I don't think there is one, as this would probably kill Garmins bandwidth completely. Imagine a few hundred concurrent downloads of 1.5GB each...

Hey all.
I'm completely new to this, so forgive my ignorance.
I bought my i3 in October/November and it was all hunky-dory for the first couple of weeks, but one day I switched it on and I was told that the maps I had were out of date, and that I should go to the garmin site to update. Thought it was strange, but just chose Remind Me Later and thought nothing of it, until I switched it on again only to find that I was notified again!
Thought I'd leave it a couple of months to see if they go away but they haven't.
I've registered my unit on the garmin website, and then placed an order for the DVD (got confirmation by e-mail).. ok that's fine, but it seems that I already have v9!
My software version is 3.10, Audio version 2.50, and my MapSource is City Navigator Europe NT v9, so why do I need to update?

So is there enough memory in the Nuvi for both sets of maps?
Also, if it is possible to put the rest of europe on a memory card will this work in the Nuvi? |

I've posted an email I've received from Garmin with more information about loading v9 mapping onto the i3 here. _________________ Anita

Thanks for that Anita. Very helpful and reassuring. Can't wait to get my hands on the DVD and I think that I'd go for the 1GB micro SD as suggested and get the whole lot onto the tiny i3. |
