What version of the database did you download?

If it was the speed-zoned set or the consolidated by type set, you need to make sure EVERY file has been set up on the unit.
To get alerts while driving, go to:
Preferences / Manage POI / Enable POI / tick each one (24 in the speed-zoned set), AND ALSO Preferences / Manage POI / Warn when near POI / set up each one.

To see them on the "Browse map" page, go to:

Browse map / Options / tick the "POI" box, then the "POI" button at the bottom and tick each one in the list (ticked ones are shown first alphabetically, then the rest, alphabetically)

These two sets of settings do inter-react, but it is possible for them to end up enabled for driving and not for viewing, or vice versa.

Finally, there is a limit of 100 POI categories that can be installed on the machine (irrespective of whether they are 'enabled' or not). Any more than that and 'some' will not be shown, not neccessarily the last ones added.
