|
|
I got a "new edition" TomTom One as a Christmas present. I've updated all the software and firmware to the latest versions (I think! I'm running "App 6.520 (7690/061002) OS:1387 GPS v1.21 Boot 4.86" and using the map that came with the unit (UK & Ireland "v660.1199").
I've also had my first problem - I thought I'd broken it but managed to solve the problem in the end.
Now I'm wondering what else I can do with it. The TomTom line seems a fairly extensible product to me - I've noticed the pocketgpsworld speed camera database for example. How can I alter/use my TomTom to make it better for me?
What cool stuff can I do with my TomTom One? |

to the Forum........
FIRST COOL THING TO DO IS - MAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR TOMTOM SD CARD !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Definately do a drag & drop of everything on the card to a folder on your PC. Also, you can do a BACKUP using TT HOME as well
then you might like to try :-
PGPSW FREE POI's
PGPSW Speed Cameras *** RECOMMENDED !!!!!
Voice Alerts For Speed Cameras
Voices
Splash Screens
Custom menus
Search / browse / read articles here for tips on this and other stuff. The above should keep you busy tho'. |

Hi, first post for me.
Just bought a Tom Tom One for Christmas and have been reading the site. Downloaded the Camera Database and working fine.
I've just tried to change the splash screen following the instructions, pasted it into the correct place replacing the original and now my Tom Tom wont switch on
Any ideas what I've done wrong guys? |

Don't do the "rotate 90 degrees" thing. I did that first time. I think maybe the old tomtom needed it, but the new V2 doesn't? (I'm guessing) |

I love the way that on an official TomTom site, they first get the dimensions wrong (corrected after it was pointed out to them) AND forgot to mention that it had to be 24bit colour, AND THEN said that the image size and name were the same for the widescreen models! |

This is most peculiar !!!! Is the ONEv2 splash.bmp rotated or not.
I posted help for a v2 owner who had
a) not rotated & b) used 8-bit
They actually sent me the pic, which I
a) rotated & returned - FAILED
b) converted to 24-bit & returned - SUCCESS
He didn't mention un-rotating so I assumed it should be.
Now I'm reading contra-information......
Please, any ONEv2 owners out there, post the definitive answer -
Rotated OR Not ????
320x240 OR 240x320 ????
Also, as an addition to the Splash Screen topic, how about posting these examples in easy reach.
Name - splash.bmp
Size - 320x240 pixels
Name - splash.bmp
Size - 240x320 pixels
NOTE: rotate image 90 deg. right
Name - splashw.bmp & suspendw.bmp
Size - 480x272 pixels |

Well done Hirve...
This weirdness has been bugging me for ages.
I wanted to do a Splashscreen "How to.." for the YourNav forum, but without having one of each model (I did ask! :D ), I couldn't be definitive as to whether the rotation issue was model or software-version specific.
So, are we now sure that the ONLY model that doesn't need rotation is the ONE v2? |

terminater2_uk - Thanks for settling that for me. I should have asked the bod I helped, really....
Andy_P2002 - Thanks for your kind words, good sir. Help yourself & spread the word.....
PGPSW Staff ( aka Moderators ) - a bit of cut & paste here or there & you can stick this in your How-To's if you like. Amend as you see fit.
Hyvää Uuttavuotta !!
