Hi,
Have checked my files and see that the data.chk file has Recovered file fragments against it, assume this is where my problem is, I assume i will have to wait til I get to my Back up files before I can replace it as I do not have access to Tomtom Home here. Any other hints?

Nope. That's what mikealder meant by
Quote: | windows on the PC you are using that doesn't like the .chk file extension |
it's the .chk extension. Windows sees this as Recovered Files Fragments so all is well on that score. |

As I said earlier leave it alone for now, the recovered file segments against this file type is normal, its a trait of MicoSoft Windows, it is is simply reporting a fault that in practice doesn't exist, ignore it - Mike |

Hi,
I have looked it seems as if there is only one map folder. ThePOI list makes no reference to any speed camera files. I don't think it is going to work until I can get the speed info to show under POI's. I can't think why it is not showing.

Can you view the map folder using the PC and are there any files that start pocketgps_uk_..... they should end in .bmp or .ov2 are these actually in place? - Mike |

Try This Page
I wouldn't worry too much, Ray. Could you advise though,
1. Did you download OV2 or Home files from PGPSW?
2. Zoned?
3. Did you unzip the file you downloaded?
4. Did you copy this folder, or only the files from within, across to your TomTom?
5. What is the 1 map folder you have found called?
6. In this map folder, can you see groups of 3 identical filenames with differing extensions...
for example:-
pocketgps_uk_30.ov2
pocketgps_uk_30.bmp
pocketgps_uk_30.ogg
7. Can you can see pocketgps_uk_30.ogg but other 2 files only say pocketgps_uk_30 but all 3 have different icons?.
8. Try using DOS shell ( open Comand Prompt and find you directory ).
use DIR command. do you see filenames like pocketgps_uk_30.ogg.ogg?
9. On you TomTom, tap the screen. tap Change Preferences. tap Enable/disable POI's. Scroll down or tap Find, tap P, scroll down. pocketgps_....anything?
10. On you TomTom, tap the screen. tap Change Preferences. tap arrow icon. tap Manage POI's. tap Warn when Near POI. Scroll down or tap P, scroll down. pocketgps_....anything?
loads to try here, I know but the answer should narrow down the issues you have. I accept you may have posted some of this above but indulge us.
regards. |

there's your problem, in a nutshell.
Start over.
Follow the installation instructions mikealder pointed you to.
Please ensure you have backed up your GO. |
