|

My i3 is running v3.20 & audio 2.20. Last POI update I did was August and all was well. No software change on unit. Tried to upload new POI’s. Unit recognised, but as soon as the ‘erasing data’ message appears, the unit switches off and tells me that there is a communication error. Same thing happens if I try to reinstall the current software. Contacted Garmin who said it was a faulty USB connection on the device. Sent back to them and replace within 48 hours. Tried to upload POI’s to new device – still the same problem. Uninstalled all software from computer, reinstalled. Still will not update or upload POI’s. Tried on 4 different machines, three running XP and 1 W2k – same problem. Surely they can’t have sent me a faulty new device. Anyone else experienced this and if so, what is the solution, please? |

How many different USB leads have you tried? - just a thought but two Garmins, four computers all giving the same result - Mike |

As above. My first suspect would be the USB lead... |

Don't go thinking you have to get a new Garmin USB cable. You can apparently try any old USB lead if the plugs fit. I've used the one from my son's PSP or MP3 player or something, and it works just fine. _________________ Garmin I3 October 2006

Good thought, I have tried two different leads. Will seek out another today and try again. Interestingly, with webupdater, I could install another voice, without a problem - but when I try anything else, it just shuts itself off and tell me that there is a communications error. |
