I was wondering if any discussion had been given to the following scenario...
I have 4 custom POI categories for Shell, BP, Esso and Texaco petrol stations. I would like to combine these into a single parent category, so that I can search for the nearest petrol station regardless of the company.
I know that consolidated lists are available, but I like the idea of knowing who the station belongs to and having their company logo on the map and nav views. Also, it is possible I have separate lists of POIs, released by the companies themselves (on a related note, I see NatWest bank have already done this officially).
Im assuming this is not possible as things stand. However, as a programmer (who admittedly hasnt looked at the SDK yet), Im wondering if this might make a viable software project.
The same could be applied to motorway service areas amongst others. Just a little something I have noticed as a former Garmin user (happy I switched, by the way).

Yes, that would be REALLY useful, if it meant you could turn on and off the whole 'group' at one go.
For example, I often want to enable or disable the entire PGPSW camera POIs, but switching 24 individual files on and off is tortuous!
It doesn't answer your question, but I'll just check that you are aware that at least you can merge several lists together yourself using POIEdit. As you say though, it will not retain the individual icons.
