I have v8 mapping on an i3.
I have noticed one major error where the A5 has a new route, due to the M6Toll, towards Tamworth (bypassing Hints) and another minor error where my i3 directs me through a public footpath between Saltdean and Rottingdean in Sussex.
I drive around 1000 to 1250 miles per week mostly with my i3 running and have found no other mapping issues worth reporting.
As it stands I can see no reason to update to v9 (which I would have to pay for). Can anyone tell me I am wrong?
Nick. |

If you want to upgrade to V9 then sell your i3 on ebay for£95/100 then buy another with v9 for similar money. _________________ Samsung Mega

Just got an e-mail lining to this PDF http://www.garmin.com/cartography/mapSource/email/pdfs/CNENTV9DVD.pdf 760 kb
Quote: | Update price information
The update DVD is free of charge. However, you will need a new unlock code to view and use the new product, which must be
requested through our online unlock process. An update charge might apply during this process. The update charge is $75
(+17.5% VAT if applicable) for the whole DVD coverage.
The v.9 cut-off date for free unlock City Navigator Europe NT updates is 1 September 2006. If you purchased a brand new
unregistered City Navigator NT Europe product after this cut-off date, you will be entitled to receive the update to v.9 free of
charge. |
I make that £37.50 plus VAT or £44 inc VAT....
Might do this after Xmas |

My main reason would be for the street-level mapping of Ireland, otherwise I wouldn't bother, as I've had no problems at all with the UK mapping. _________________ Anita

Nick,
The only reason i can see is for the POI updates, as i have been to a few 'petrol stations' that have not been open for a while. One was a kebab shop, good, but not so cool when you have less than no fuel on a Sunday evening.
In terms of roads there are very few changes i have noticed that are not on V8, other than ones where roundabouts have been added.
PS Have you experienced any odd routing as you head south down the old A5 in Shrewsbury to Meole Island (sorry OT i know just interested)

Hi GavJBrown
When you download and open the zip file, you will find an Excel compatible CSV file, and an identically named bitmap. Unzip these to your POI directory, and then useb POI loader to put the data onto your unit. The other files in the zip are not required for POI loader. _________________ Garmin I3 October 2006

Try rolling back to firmware v2.7. I don't recall anyone using that version saying they get the update notice screen. I certainly haven't had it yet. _________________ Anita
