|
|
I'm considering buying/downloading the new updated maps for my TTN5, but I'm just wondering how up to date they are.
For example; A new (2 years ago) dual Carriageway (A5) was opened between Junc 4 of the M6 Toll and Tamworth. This is not on my old v.562 maps, nor worringly, on the Tele Atlas map on this site that is used for submitting speed camera locations, although this map is copyright 2006.
Does anyone know if this road appears on the new TomTom maps ?
Thanks

If it joins the M6 at the Weeford roundabout (?) then yes, I see the A5 going towards Tamworth on my map. _________________ iPhone 4/4S (iOS 5.1.1); TomTom Western Europe (1.10)/USA & Canada (1.10); CoPilot for iPhone (8), UK mapping, Mac OS 10.8/XP Pro/Win7; Tongue firmly in cheek! |

Oh wait, it is on my Nav 6 as the map for camera submissions that you refer to shows, so if that's not what you're looking for, I must be wrong - sorry. _________________ iPhone 4/4S (iOS 5.1.1); TomTom Western Europe (1.10)/USA & Canada (1.10); CoPilot for iPhone (8), UK mapping, Mac OS 10.8/XP Pro/Win7; Tongue firmly in cheek! |

The old A5 was a single carriageway road through Weeford. The new A5 (dual carriageway) runs parallel with the old one but about a quarter mile to the north.
So, when leaving at J4, the roundabout should have the following exits going clockwise:-
A5 West
A38 North
A5 East (New A5)
Minor Road South East (Old A5)
A38 South
If it has these exits, then the map is up to date ?
Can you confirm ?
Thanks

I don't know if this is any value to you.
I have new Western Europe map for Tom Tom GO700, released in this latest set of maps, downloaded 28th November 2006.
It looks as though the dual carriageway does not start until between Hints Lane and A453 Bonehill Road - pretty much the turnoff for Tamworth I'd imagine. That's where it turns dual on my MS Autoroute 2006 also. If it's now dual from Jct 4, then it doesn't seem to be on my new map. It is actually no different from my previous map (same start for the dual carriageway). My previous map was Western Europe v606.0, present map is Western Europe v660.1219.
These are not TTN5 maps of course - I think there are different maps for different TT models and applications, so treat this information accordingly.
Why not ask TomTom if it's on your new map? _________________ Dennis

No, sorry, in my map version (see signature below) the roundabout runs: A5W, A38N, only 1 A5 (must be the old), A38... _________________ iPhone 4/4S (iOS 5.1.1); TomTom Western Europe (1.10)/USA & Canada (1.10); CoPilot for iPhone (8), UK mapping, Mac OS 10.8/XP Pro/Win7; Tongue firmly in cheek! |

Hmmmm. I don't travel this way very often, but it is one example that I could think of for a road that is probably 2 years old.
A bit disappointing if it's not on the new maps.
Just makes me wonder how up to date the rest of the maps are.

For information it looks like it is not on the latest V660 issue, the roundabout off J4 shows:
A5 West
A38 North
A5 South East
A38 South
the A5 south east is shown as single carriageway not dual, Iam not familiar with this area so cannot confirm, only read from latest map which is UK and IE plus major roads of WE v660, which has only just been released, Thats tomtom for you. |

I live in Tamworth and use it alot, I also have V6 and the road is not on there.
There are also many other road that are not correct and roundabouts that are missing, I got sick of reporting them as you get the usual reply. It would be nice if when a map changes they inclued waht changes were made from verion to version. This way it would easy to see if they are worth buying.
A good feature for sat navs would be the version fitted to the Honda Civic, if you drive and the road is not present it places a breadcrum trail where you have been, looks really neat. The more you use it the more filled in the road becomes. Could be useful.
Of to Gateshead Monday so will see what maps are like up there. _________________ ----------------------------------------

A120 East of Stanstead bypassing Dunmow is there...
BUT, they've added a roundabout to the A130 at the point it crosses the A127 |

Bazzer
Western Europe Map ver 652 shows the correct layout for this junction with dual carriageway all the way to Tamworth just north of the old road.
It also shows some minor roads between the M6 Toll Jcn 4 and the A38/A5 roundabout
