Small problem, hope someone has a solution Smile

I had a new SD card today a crucial 256mb High Speed.

I copied all the data from a backup to the new sd card.
Now the tomtom won't fully start.
I get an image of a sd coming out of the tomtom with an X through it. Sad

I have made sure all the data has been transferred and checked again Smile
Could it be that the card is not compatible with the tomtom?. Card works fine in the card reader.

Thanks in advance.

Have you tried the pin-in-the-holr Reset? Hold it for about 30secs.

Have you compared the Data on the old Card, with the new Card?

Did the Backup have the Program AND the Maps?

You should have no problem with a High Speed Card.

Did you go into Windows Explorer/Tools/Folder options/View/Then click on show hidden files and folders.uncheck hide extensions for known file types.
Do this then copy your original card to a folder on your PC then copy this onto your new card.
I formatted my card last night & forgot to show hidden files when i copied the TT files back & had exactly the same problem as you are having.
Don't forget to restore settings afterwards as leaving them as is allows you to delete vital files by accident.

I made a full backup of the sd card a few days ago.
I have tried moving all the files over to the card (which it does write)
still nothing….
Formatted the card and tried to restore using the tomtom home software.
Didn’t boot again….

wiped card and went to install a 6month old backup.
wouldn't book...still the card with the cross through it.

Took the tomtom in to work to try on my works pc and when i plugged the tomtom in it showed as a removable drive, but when i try and click onto the folder / card it told me there was no card inserted.

Lent my friends sd card. Popped it in the unit, went past the loading screen when hung on the black screen with the tomtom hands showing. (would his revision 5.2 have made this happen as mine was the latest one?)

Got irate at this point Sad

suggestions please, or maybe the card is b0rked?.

oh I do take it when formatting the card it has to be FAT and not FAT32?.

I formatted mine as FAT. I don't know whether a TT will boot OK using a card with a lower firmware perhaps a mind superior to mine can answer, but my gut feeling is your TT may be kaput.Have you tried a reset by the way?

Further to above.
My normal card has latest 6.52 firmware.Just stuck in the supplied card which is 6.51 booted OK.So it would appear that they will boot with lower firmware but then mine is only one iteration lower it may be different with hugely different versions.

I have tried the reset button numerous times. Just ordered another card to try & just downloaded the new 6.6 maps from tomtom.

Can't understand it if the unit is b0rked, it only happened when I put the new card in. Due to a long story i have not got my original SD card now. Babies are such fun! Smile

Try and move the write protect tab to the opposite of where it is now. Probably wont make any difference but wont do any harm.

Managed to get it sorted out. Must have been the card in the end as the 512mb crucial card worked as soon as i transferred the data and installed the latest maps.

So cheers for all your input guys!

Just a quick question. Smile

I have now switched to the UK & Eire maps and seem to have lost all my favourites Sad Can anyone tell me which file i need to copy over from my original great Britain map folder to the new one (GO 300)
