C510D or Tom Tom one

halfords have offerd me a swap for my garmin c510d because my traffic
reciver isnt working to well

i paid £199 for the C510D
and the closets i can get for my money is Tom Tom One

They wont return my money so i dont have many options, what do ya think i should do ?

Why did your traffic not work?

My dad just got a 510D from Halford's this weekend and I have to say, it's rather good. Very clear and concise mapping. Almost diagramatic maps rather than 'real' maps if you know what I mean, but very clear.

His TMC worked pretty well too. I guess it all depends where you are and what's going on.

Tomtom users are having the same problems as everyone else when it comes to RDS-TMC.

I would be a little more aggressive with the seller, for a start they sold you a device with TMC, to get a replacement device with similar functionality would require a TomTom 510 with RDS TMC receiver. The model you mention can only accept traffic via GPRS which will cost you considerably more over time.
I am no legal expert, you could do with an answer from one of the "legal eagles" that frequent the forum from time to time to get a better understanding of you position , anyone heard from peterc10 recently? - Mike

im thinking of buying the nuvi 310, but i recall zogman retuning his
but i dont know why ?

Is it worth paying £230 for one of these nuvi's
or £177 for a tom tom one

craetz...took my nuvi 310d back cos i didnt like the silly antenna on the back and the tmc wasnt worth the money..although the tmc worked well at home and in and around swindon ,i read many reports on this forum that uk coverage was a bit sporadic especially down the m4 corridor. this is the area where i would mostly use it...i have now invested in a tom tom one v2 europe which i got from currys for £210 (v2 uk only £160)..this includes street level mapping for europe and the v2 has the capability of receiving traffic and weather updates via bluetooth on a gprs phone...and also the unit looks neater than the nuvi...there are more 'tweaks' you can do with the tom tom like loading after market applications and such...

maps are cheaper from tom tom as well , only 79 euros for the whole of europe or the whole of the states (holiday next year maybe)...also you got to think whether you will actually use the bluetooth function on the nuvi..

What codes did you use to get your ONE Europe at £ 210? Sounds like a good deal!

its a very sat nav nick, lovely small size with no protruding antenna ,quick startup ,very good maps with voice directions saying things like ''cross roundabout and take third exit etc'' ...garmins dont mention roundabouts...mount is very firm...i also love the way you can customise it with aftermarket applications..at the moment i cant fault it...

got it from currys using 'xmasfree199' for free delivery and 'bpwash10' for the 10% discount.....you can also use rsaxxx10 or rsaxmas for the 10% discount..

I have to say that I don't rate the Garmin's when compared to TomTom's interface. I wish someone would come up with something to better TomTom but no-one has as yet.

Were it my money I'd get the ONE.

Hi Guys

Thank you for the reply. Garmin have great customer services and I like the fact they are constantly releasing further updates (some might say it's because the product is not "complete" - I prefer to think they are always improving the software and routing) but when I compare the user interface between TomTom and for instance the Nuvi, TomTom wins hands down. Shame Garmin don't havn't yet come up with something similiar - I was expecting a "leap" forward with the 660 but it seems they just tweaked it - nevermind!

well i followd mr zogman and bought a tomtom, i have no use for
EU mpas Maybe USA at some point,so i went for GB v2

ohh and i also got held up by gun point today on Cricklade road HSBC
so look out for me in the evening advertiser tomorrow Zogman
