Just get a different receiver then (or ask your friend to give his to you ;-) )

i was thinking about getting a 2210 ,perhaps it is my ipaq that is faulty.

You may have an endless stream of disposable income but to us mear mortals the idea of using a bluetooth jacket just for the CF slot, throw away the bluetooth GPS receiver and buy a serial GPS receiver is nonsence.

I think you are trying to do too much and in so doing you are giving unconsidered answers. The result will be that forum users will start to look elsewhere, you will have less to do which migh be a good thing. In my opinion you should slow down - take a break.

have decided to get a 2210
do i have to delete any software off my pc so as i can install on a new ipaq,also do i have to delete the maps off my cf card.

will any of this affect the activation code.
