Brand new, despite the Sep date.
Interesting - this brings Garmin in line with TomTom - instead of just a Bong Bong near a camera, we can use WAV files for it to say "Warning, 30mph" - simply name the WAV file with the same name as the CSV and BMP file...
I'm trying to locate all those TomTom websites with WAV files on them now, which I used to know about, but suddenly need to care about again... |

That's what i thought!!
Anyway installed it, copied the manual to another location, tried it, read the manual. Nothing great to report.
The sub-catergories might be of some use....
WAV files so we can have audible alerts. Anyone know where we can get some suitable for speed cameras? |

With Tomtom's move to OGG support, WAV files aren't easy to come by. However, one option is to take the OGG files for TomTom and convert them back to WAV files.
Although I've now found my collection of WAV files from my TomTom PDA days, I won't get a chance to try them for a while... |

I have the i3 which has the maps on the T/F Card and everything else on the i3's internal memory.
Does this mean I can never change the WAV files on the unit? |

Well .WAV files for POI alerts appear to work ok with Beta version of Poiloader.
I downloaded 2.4.0.0 Beta and installed it without de-installing 2.3.2
It appeared to install ok.
I then found some camera WAV files that I had from a previous GPS unit and copied these to the location on my PC where my custom POI and pocketgps files reside. I renamed the .WAV files as suggested by swing.
Then I ran the new Poiloader and chose the new option to uninstall custom POI's from my Nuvi 310D unit
Then re-ran Poiloader and chose to install new POIs. The only 'funny' I noticed was that it appeared to load the POIs twice before reporting that custom POIs had been successfully loaded.
I have now lost my 'bongs' and get a verbal warning when approaching camera locations. I haven't tried all camera types yet, but it looks promising. |

Paul, Have you tried the wav files on the i3 yet? I have just tried with my unit running software version 2,70 Audio version 2,00 and I still get the Bong or Bong Bong Bong etc. if speeding. I will try updating the i3 to a newer software load in the morning and trying again.
The good news is that the spoken alerts DO WORK on my Nuvi-310D I used a set of Liz Whitaker ogg files in 22050Hz format, converted them to wav and re-named the files to match the bmp and csv files. It works great, will report back in the morning if I get any further with the i3 though - Mike |

See-ell, in the new POI-Loader is an option to remove installed POI's, use that FIRST before installing the POI's otherwise it will simply add a second set to the device (this is going to cause some confusion to people as it goes live!) - Mike |

Hi Mike, I think I mentioned that I de-installed custom POIs first using the new uninstall function so that I could do a new install with version 2.4.0 Beta
Even after doing that, Poiloader prompted me twice for the location of my custom POIs before it 'finished'.
I can report though that only ONE set of POI's was loaded and all appears to be well.

mikealder thanks. Just got the wav files.
Currently i use Ash10s Camera Updater to give me an initial warnig regardless of speed and then customise the Overspeed warnings.
I know that CU only works with the POILoader version of the PGPSW database and not the speed zoned (error messages due to missing CSV files etc), so it's a choice between spoken voices or the extra functions from Ash10.... Hmmmm
I'll give the spoken voices ago and report back. |

Same set up, same result . Might contact Garmin and ask about models and firmwares this will work with.... |

Mike / Swing
Are you able to post the .WAV files anywhere on this site so that others can have a try with the new POILoader functionality please.
Thanks |
