I have mislaid my TomTom ONE USB cable and I have tried another USB-miniUSB cable as well as a USB-miniUSB adapter neither of which worked.
Does TomTom ONE use a "special" USB cable or is the USB connector on my ONE broken? |

I use the mini-USB cable that came with my Canon camera for my Go, so I don't think it is anything special.
There were reports of (I think) the x10 models needing a really good push to get the plug to go fully in (a sort of second click).
Have you tried all combinations of PC and TomTom power on and off when you connect? Can you try another PC? |

OK - I removed and replaced the SD card and now the USB connection works again (with any USB-miniUSB cable). I don't know why this should be the case but I will certainly try this approach next time I have any sort of problem. |

For mine, I use a different USB cable with a little fat thing on (sorry to use technical terms 8O ) otherwise I sometimes get failure. _________________ Dennis

Quite often, these cables contain a PFM circuit, without which they don't operate properly for specific devices. The PFM wiring is in the "fat bit" you describe. |

If it's of any use, the mini-USB cable I have with my Motorola phone and Blackberry all work with my TomTom One V1. _________________ ________________________________________

Don't know what a PFM circuit is (do tell please, Tom!), but usually the lump is just a ferrite inductor. The cable loops through it to reduce induced interference at RF frequencies. |

No, Andy, it's a fat bit - see my previous post - I'm doing Technical now. _________________ Dennis
