Just in process of trading my Mio 269 with non-UK functioning TMC receiver :-( up for something else.
Basically, what is the current best deal for a handheld sat-nav with full european mapping and UK/France TMC? Are there other options than the Mio c710? Navman N60i? I'm kinda hacked off with Mio!
I'm after something that I can use at home and take to Europe when I go fly/drive and find ways around ski-season traffic jams!

If you want a PNA style device take a look at the Garmin nuvi 310D this comes with TMC and Europe maps circa 300 quid (check Halfords web site),also check the Garmin site for information re use in France though, I am not too sure on TMC licences for operation in a non UK country.
For a PDA style unit have a look for the HTC Artemis with TTN6 loaded, OK so its a phone/ PDA, but you could use other applications to record the ski runs, speed, altitude etc
The other PDA style device I would consider is the IMate PDA-n, this would require connection to a mobile phone via Bluetooth, and a navigation package that supports TMC via GPRS. - Mike

Thanks for the pointers. The Mio still comes out on top I think. You can get them for £250 on ebay, and it has built in TMC which is much neater solution if you want to use it abroad in a hire car. I was hoping for a good Mio alternative, but it looks like they have it stitched up rather well!

Oh, and BTW, the NUVI 310D does include a premium lifetime subscription to both Trafficmaster (UK) and v-trafic (France)
You can get the Garmin 510D from halfords for £250, it comes with the GTM-21 TMC unit which seems to be a better option than the GTM12 that comes with the NUVI.
NOTE: the description of the Garmin 510/NUVI deluxe at pixmania doesn't mention the TMC receiver although the Deluxe package should include it, be worth checking before ordering.

Thanks for the links! I've now looked at them all and compared specs and reviews. The Mio is still favourite on a number of counts. not leaset of these is the built in TMC receiver. They are also down to not much more than £250 on ebay now! I might just wait till after christmas though to see if they drop again!
