There should be a standard USB plug on one end. All I did was to download the PC version of WinFast Navigator and manually set to NMEA 9600. First time it didn't work, tried a further two times then power cycled the GPS and I could then connect to the GPS via Bluetooth.
WinFast Navigator PC version is on our downloads page under the Leadtek tools section. |

Hi again,
Well I got my data cable.
But I cannot get this go to 9600.
I use Winfast (Leadtech) Navigator and try to choose BAUD 9600, but it just goed to 19200 and then opens the connection box again.
However, if I use 4800 and Sirf, I get data and I can see the satellites.
I am unable to connect from the Ipaq, using Destinator.
Any other ideas on how to get it to 9600 NMEA ?
Regards,

I am getting real tired of this product.
I only bought this one, because PocketGPSworld gave it such a high rating. To my knowledge, this thing has always been on BAUD4800 SIRF.
I can connect to it win Winfast Navigator and the only DATA I get id if it is set to 4800 SIRF.
I have all the tools, Navigator, SirfDEMO, and Holux GPS viewer.
Can someone please tell me how to get this thing working?
Can someone tell me how to get in touch with Holux support?
On the website is only downloads and manuals.
Thanks for the help.
Regards,

The default baud rate for the GR-230 is 9600 and the default protocol is NMEA, so if you do have it on SiRF 4800 then either you have switched it unintentionally (or a driver for another program has), or someone had the GPS before you and had switched it to SiRF 4800.
All I did was open WinFast on the PC and re-select the baud rate to 9600 and it switched back to NMEA. |

What version of the Winfast software did you use?
I have the latest from your downloads, and all it does is quickly go to 19200, when I try to connect with 9600.

The one in our downloads section.
Once connected to the GPS and you are receiving data, go into the ADVANCED button, switch to the MAIN PORT tab, check that it has 9600, then switch to NMEA tab, make sure baudrate is set to 9600 and set
GGA=1
GLL=1
GSA=5
GSV=5
RMC=1
VTG=1
MSS=1
USER 8=1
USER 1
USER 10=1
Now click OK and it switched. It took me several attempts at doing this, then powering down the GPS, disconnecting the cable, and trying again before it switched back. |

Exactly as I tried.
More info:
I pulled the battery off for 5 minutes and put it on again.
IT WILL ONLY TALK SIRF AND ONLY AT 4800.
This leads me to believe that it cam from the factory this way.
Only Winfast will work.
No routing software will work with this.
Bluwtooth does not work with this either.
CRAP.

More info: (For anyone who happens to get where I am )
P/N: 96019-01
S/N: 230-344 0078
Board shows: Holux GR-230 REV:A
No jumpers to reset.
SirfDEMO showing the following errors:
(when set to 4800): SRAM Backup not done. Too few SVs used in a solution.
(When set to 9600): Comm:CE_Frame
Again, I am getting data on SIRF 4800. However I cannot get any applications to use this.

I would send it back to where you purchased it. If it was direct from Holux they'll replace it free of charge, if it was with a non Holux authorised reseller then you may have problems. |
