Hi All
I have a TomTom Go300.
I have been given a OS Grid Ref for a place I Need to visit in Scotland.
Is it possible to get the Go300 to plot the route using the Grid ref or do I have to convert it to Long & Lat first?
If I need to convert does anyone know how to do it, on another note how do I plot a route with the tt300 using Longitude & Latitude? |

Hi snorty,
I think that there is an application for TomTom Navigator (on a PocketPC) that can use OSGB Grid References, but I’m not sure if there’s a similar application for the GO that’ll do the same thing.
What you can do is use StreetMap to convert the OSGB Grid Reference to Longitude and Latitude coordinates. You can thne use POI Edit to create an .ov2 file with the Longitude and Latitude coordinates.
Have a go with TQ 30033 80451, which is Nelsen’s Column in Trafalgar Square.
Latitude: 51.508036, Longitude: -0.127713

It's quite some time ago that I asked TomTom how to do it with a GO and they simply said "You can't and why would you want to anyway?"!!
Now I would simply find the place with Streetmap or Multimap, print it so that I can see it, then use Navigate to ... Point on Map. If I wanted to do it regularly, first visit I'd pinpoint it as a favourite. _________________ Dennis

Be careful using co-ordinates, if your resultant POI is way off a road (mountain sumit or munroe) your unit might not find a route, in which case find a near by car park - Mike |
