Does anyone know if it is possible to track the location using a Pocket PC and a TomTom One.
I have a O2 XDA Exec (Windows Mobile 5) and a TomTom One. Both have bluetooth and the TomTom can communicate via the XDA to the internet using 3G/GPRS.
What I am after is a way of the XDA getting information from the TomTom and relaying this information to a website which can be monitored in an office maybe with Google Maps to monitor the location of a vehicle.
I have checked on google and on these forums but not really sure what I am looking for or even if it is possible. |

By using TomTom version 6 on the devices you have access to the "Buddies" feature which can be interrogated to provide positional data on either device in real time, the TomTom one would require a mobile phone connection via Bluetooth for this to work and your Exec needs a full GPRS connection though, also the Exec would need TTN6 installing.
I am not aware of any other applications you can run on the One that will do this, other than those provided via TT version 6 to be honest
If you equip the Exec with a stand alone GPS unit (bluetooth type) then there are a number of applications that can provide tracking, but it tends to be costly - GPRS traffic isn't cheap - Mike |

Could you point me in the direction of some of this other software. I am happy to get another GPS receiver if necessary and the traffic wouldn't be a problem as my tarrif has unlimited bandwidth (fair usage policy is 1Gb per month). |

Have a look on www.handango.com use the search facility on the software site and it will throw up a few to have a look at (I entered GPS Tracking). Most of the sofware can be downloaded, installed and trialed with limitted functionality before you have to part with cash - Mike |

Thanks to couriersoncall for the info, this looks like an idea solution.
What I need now is someone to assist in getting my TomTom One setup with my XDA to act as a standard GPS receiver. Is it possible? |
