When I purchased TT6, the box is flashed, 'Free pre installed safety camers.'....to be honest, not that I was particularly interested as I'm using this sites' database instead.
However, thought I would take a look. The instructions say literally hit one of the icons for self install...oh yeh ?
Contact the infamous helpdesk....(must be something to do with the Dutch....as a mega miler with KLM.)
'Send proof of purchase by fax'...which I did, when I found the fax number.
'Send product code'....which I have...now three times.
72 hours later, my question 'history' is showing...'researching.'....whatever that is supposed to mean.
I would assume that they can easily see that I go back to TT3 etc. etc.
I can only assume that they have a problem with my integrity ? |

Frequentflyer, did you get a satisfactory (or any?) answer about this from TomTom?
I had this problem too - lots of promises in the glossy packaging bumf about free camera POIs but no means to activate or install them.
Like you, I use this site's camera database but I still feel slightly cheated because TT6 doesn't seem to do exactly what it says on the tin.

They don't install as you do not have a safety camera account with TomTom. When you sign up for the Traffic Trial you should also get a Camera Trial, but this does not seem to happen. Your account will be activated only through TT support and this takes a lot of faxes and web-mails. It eventually comes through. I even had one support bod asking for a receipt for my PDA!
I put mine on through TT Home. |

I contacted TomTom support via their website last night, providing my TT6 registration information which I logged on the TT website when I first installed TT6. Today I received an email providing details of a download (which must be performed via TomTom Home, so this assumes you are registered on the TT site) which has allowed speed camera info for UK and Europe to be installed on my SD card.
Did I get a quick response because I had registered my software with the TT site? Perhaps this is the only way TT support are satisfied that a caller owns the software? I would advise anyone with this problem to first register with the TT site and then contact TT support.
Good luck. |

After many Emails etc.,, they eventually agreed to the free cameras, and said to load them via TTHome (which I registered on when I first got TT6), but every time it syncs, it says 'no downloads available', so I've given up on that one. |
