My MD95900 was stolen from the car last night.
(yes I know, late at night, raining cats & dogs, just driven back from Spa Fracorchamps to the UK)
Is the MD96800 compatible?
I have the BeNeLux, France and Germany maps for the 95900 and don't want to lose that investment.
There is a refurb 96800 on the medion UK shop for £99 and if that works with my old maps then I'm back in business. _________________ PAul

The MD95900 runs 4.75 version, whilst the MD96800 runs the 5.1 version. They are not compatible. I have both units, inclusive of the full European street level maps.
You can upgrade the MD95900 to the MD96800 software, something I did on my older unit, with great success. |

hi twinfanman, I have just purchased a replacement Medion MD95233 ( my earlier Aldi one got stolen from the car), but my old Navteq BeNeLux maps won't work, as it seems to be running Tele Atlas?. Do I have any options?. I can't seem to find any good info on this model or which other units it is identical to / clone of etc.
Many Thanks. |

Yep, both the 4.75 and the 5.1 versions are compatible with the MD95233 (PNA175). If you bought your unit 2nd hand and the previous owner hacked it, you might need to do full hard resets, and therefore you MIGHT need the upgrade discs, but I doubt that you would. The software on the discs (whether it be 4.75 or 5.1) should ensure a full load, following the hard reset.
If you lived closer, I'd consider letting you try my software, to ensure that the 4.75 and 5.1 versions that I have do work. |

OK, I think i've got it.................I can DOWNGRADE my new MD95233 to the older NAVTEQ based system, then use my old european map set which I still have, by first installing the software from my original Medion Disc?. Is that correct?. If so I will be well pleased, because I preferred the older system - seemed better on mapping and routes, and didn't annoy me so much with it's voice commands.
My new unit (md95233) was bought new 2 months ago from Cash Converters, so it's legit and comes with it's original software and disc. So, if all else fails, would this disc be sufficient to re-set the unit back to where i started?.
Many thanks for your help, Richard. |

Yep, that would seem correct. As you have the original discs, you should be able to reinstall the newer software if things go wrong, although the discs don't really have to be legit, you know
If you have any problems and want to look at alternate solutions, let me know. |
