Please help
My friend asked to me to look into it , I actually have a different SatNav for which I used this forum to solve a problem.
All worked fine until recently when there was no sound. Nothing was loaded or chnged but now you can not select a voice. With or without the SD card is tells you that the voices must be “installed from CDRom or install from internet” on the image and the PDA give you the "you did not select a usable voice"
I have to admit that I am not at all familiar with PDA + SatNav software. I had a look on the forum and found references to the no usable voice problem which can occur in certain circumstances and there are fixes which work. I have tried these but non of them work. I can not figure out what has happened or changed
On the SD card (branded TT) there are the following directories
tomtom - (4 files)
2577 - (contains autorun and TTn.cab file
Great Britain map
licenses
palm - 2 files
raster (empty)
schemes
voices - (had data04 and data05 files now got a full set of dataXX.chk and dataXX.vif files)
zip - 1 file
start.exe
Judging from the fixes I have found here, the SD card has the voices folder with the pairs of files, a map folder and the tomtom directory but it still tells you “you did not select a usable voice” It navigates ok just will not select a voice.
I even get this message when the SD card is removed so it does not appear to be reading anything from the SD card.
Any ideas why it would stop working and how to fix it.
Does the application need to be re-installed?
Thanks
Jack

Try putting the data05.chk and data05.vif files in the My Documents - TomTom folder on the Device and the data.chk in the Program Files - Navigator on the Device. _________________ Formerly known as Lost_Property
